Introduction

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 was one of the mainstay fighter planes for the Luftwaffe during World War 2, being used in every theatre. A new set of decals from Exito Decals, out of Poland, has markings for the Bf 109G-6 variants that flew in and around the Balkans.

Review

Exito Decals is a new decal vendor out of Poland, and one of their first releases covers Bf 109G-6 flying over the Balkans. The set comes delivered in a clear plastic protective sleeve with sturdy card stock in an 8.5 inch by 11-inch format. Inside the package is the sheet of decals and three sheets for the painting and markings, all printed in great looking color.

The decals them self are printed by Cartograf, and the artwork and colors are very well printed, and all within register. As for the artwork, it looks to be impeccable, including the markings for the American captured version. The reproduction of the “hand painted” look is very well done. My version, as arrived in Canada, did contain the full Swastikas, but I do notice the “separated” version is included as well.

The artwork for the painting and marking guides is impressive. Printed on glossy paper in full color and two sided. The one side showing the sides of the aircraft are almost, if not completely, frame worthy with great looking artwork. The flip side contains the top and bottom views with decal placement information. Also included is a black and white reference image. Paint colors are referenced for both Mr. Hobby and AK Interactive.

Note: while the reviewed items was 1/48 scale, the decals are also available in 1/72 scale as well.

Summary

As a first impression from Exito Decals, I am very impressed. The decals, printed by Cartograf, are vey well done, and the painting and marking guides are artwork. With images, in black and white, of the actual aircraft included, it does look like some good research has been done. I would definitely recommend these decals, and might just have to buy another Tamiya “G-6”.
