FC Model Trend has produced a 37mm gun, a machine gun mount for the side of the vehicle and a set of headlights in 1/35th scale. This set is a conversion to enable the modeller to produce the Soviet version of the FT-17.

This offering from FC Model Trend is supplied in a re-sealable blister pack that I feel should do a good job of protecting the contents both in the post and in the modellers stash while waiting to be used. This is a resin 3D printed product with the procedure having been carried out to a high standard. I am unable to comment on the accuracy of the product but I believe FC Model Trend have done their homework due to the FT-17 appearing to be of particular interest to them.

This offering has been designed to be used with either the Meng or RPM kit offerings; it does require the angular turret rather than the curved turret. The 37mm barrel looks and feels to be well replicated, and what I thought was a poorly finished muzzle turned out to be a slight recess; this will in my opinion need to be made a little deeper but it is a good guide for that step. The machine gun mount is straight forward glue in place part, but I do not know exactly where it goes; drawings indicate on the right side. The headlights and mounting brackets are very nice design wise, but I feel that the lenses are a little cloudy.

From what I can see this is an easy to use product that enables a quick conversion to a Soviet produced FT-17. The parts have been well printed and will require the minimum of clean up. I have not been able to locate photographs specifically identified as a Soviet FT-17, but FC Model Trend do have two small images indicating this.
Highs: The ease of this conversion has to be its biggest plus.
Lows: Hard to find reliable reference.
Verdict: For those who are into the FT-17 I am sure this will appeal or even those who just want something a little different.
