USAF WWII Forked Lift

by: Jean-Luc Formery [ TEDMAMERE ]

The kit
In a little plastic bag, you have the following parts:
- one grey resin body.
- three grey resin wheels.
- six brownish resin detail parts.
- one copper wire.
- one white plastic rod.

The resin parts a nicely done with every detail crisply formed. No air bubbles are noticeable. The main part will only require minor cleaning work (a little sanding on the underside). The wheels are excellent and will be easily removed from the casting block, but carefull handling will be needed for the detail parts; the resin used for these seems to be brittle and some parts are very small.

The instruction sheet is clear and well done with detailed measurements to use the copper wire and plastic rod correctly. The painting instructions are simple: Olive Drab! To sum up, it's a little kit that will only need a minimum of work for a nice result at the end.

The only bad side is that no bomb is included in the kit. You will have to hope one is provided in the plane's kit or search for one in your spare box.

Accuracy
Well, it looks like an U.S. WWII lifting trolley... I don't know if this was the only design used by the USAAF, but this one looks convincing to me! M. Meissonier (Signifer owner) saw and handled some of them when he was stationed at Le Vallon Airfield in France in 1945. The "Groupe de Chasse" 11/6 he served with was equiped with P-39 Q Airacobras and was based there. What more could we ask?

Conclusion
With all these new bigger scale kits, it is nice that some manufacturers are producing high quality accessories in 1/32 scale. With the "USAF WWII Forked Lift" you can expect the same high quality standard as in other Signifer kits.

The kit is available direct from the manufacturers for 9,50€ (Europe) and 7,94€ (overseas).

Thank you to Signifer for kindly supplying the review sample.
SUMMARY
There are currently more Aircraft kits being produced in bigger scales than ever before! This encouraged Signifer to start a welcome line of field accessories in 1/32 scale. Knowing the quality of their quarter-scale kits, this is excellent news for large scale model planes enthusiasts. The USAF WWII Forked Lift (lifting trolley) is the first in this new series...
