Barracuda Studios have released a trio of new resin upgrades for largescale Bf 109G models, combining superb detail with simplicity of use.

Gustav Seats
First off is a pair of new resin replacement seats for Revell’s recent 1:32 Bf 109G kits. Applicable to a Bf 109G-2 through to the 'G-10, the upgrades completely replace the kit's seat and rear bulkhead, and offer a choice of with or without a seat harness.

Designed by Mike Kirchoff, the casting is faultless in the review samples and the detail on the single-piece replacement part is simply superb. The cast-on harness is crisply depicted and draped realistically, while the alternative set is otherwise identical - but, of course, allows you to use whatever type of etched or fabric harness you wish.

Both sets feature a comprehensive set of instructions, complete with colour photos which can also be viewed larger on Barracuda’s website.

Installing the seats could hardly be simpler, because the resin pieces are designed to fit with no sanding or trimming required - all the pour stub is hidden behind the bulkhead.

Both sets are available now, priced as follows:

BR32223 Bf-109G-2 Thru G-10 Seat - No Belts - Price: $7.95
BR32224 Bf-109G-2 Thru G-10 Seat with Belts - Price: $8.95

20mm Underwing Cannons
Also designed for Revell’s kits, these may also be adapted to fit other largescale Gustavs. For the 20mm Mg 151 gondolas, Barracuda have teamed up with Master Model and the result is something of a match made in heaven. With a combination of top quality resin parts and turned brass barrels, you can hardly go wrong.

Gunnar Jansen produced the patterns for the gondolas, which are beautifully detailed cast with minimal pour stubs to clean up. They simply need the openings for the barrels drilling out carefully to accept the locating pins on the metal parts.

Once again, a clear set of instructions is included, illustrated with colour photos of each stage.

BR32168 Bf 109G Underwing Cannon Gunboats - Price: $9.95

Conclusion
Once again, Roy Sutherland’s Barracuda Studios has come up with some superb upgrades that underline their well-deserved reputation for being among the very best in the business. The sets are designed to be very straightforward to use, and should be well within the capabilities of any modeller with a little experience. In fact, they would make ideal first sets for anyone wanting to try using resin upgrades for the first time. Unreservedly recommended.

I mostly concentrate on WW2 subjects, although I'm also interested in WW1, Golden Age aviation and the early Jet Age - and have even been known to build the occas...
