The Archimedean drill is one of the classic tools of all time. You can almost think of it being halfway between a pin vice and a power tool - it combines the benefits of both, offering the extra precision of a hand tool along with extra speed. Billings Boats USA have announced a modeller's Archimedean micro drill from Model Craft.

Cheers Paul By coincidence, Model Craft's version has just arrived for review. I'll be sure to mention your warning about not going too hard on the finest drill-bits. All the best Rowan

Aye it's a great way to get through .3mm bits. .5 and upwards should be OK. It's only on drilling bigger holes you need the Archimedes screw anyway. Just use it like a normal drill/pin vice for the small bits and you'll be fine. oh and drill your pilot hole as if using a normal drill then you'll not send it skiting across the plastic as you push down on the spring. Esp true for curve fuselage sections. All common sense really, but if you're like me with a new tool common sense goes out the window till the lessons are learned
