Arctic Decals is drawing up plans to reproduce the markings of Ala Littoria airline’s chief executive Ing. Umberto Klinger personal Beechcraft B-17R using Rodens 1/48 scale kit
”Ciao specially Italian modellers! At the moment I am working on an Italian subject; Beech B17R I-IBIS ALPS and laser printed decals in 1/48 scale.
These decals depicts the livery used on Beech B17R I-IBIS used by Ala Littoria in1937-40 as a personal transport plane of the airline’s chief executive Ing. Umberto Klinger. They are made for modified Roden 1/48 scale Beech D17 models (D17S, UC-43 and GB-2), which have the longer fuselages.
To backdate D17 into B17 version, at least the aft fuselage needs to be shortened 9.8mm, forward fuselage 5.7mm and ailerons relocated from upper wings to lower wings. The elevators need to be converted to horn balanced version. This set includes shorter fuselage stripe decals (1A and 2A) for modified fuselage and longer stripe decals (1B and 2B) for the unmodified D17 fuselage. The shorter decals are for those brave souls who will shorten the fuselage parts to the correct length for B model, and the longer decals for us normal mortals who are not willing (or able) to perform the nasty surgery job.
These decals should be available via Arctic Decals website after a week or so. I have also 1/72 scale version under construction...”
