Is this a former Revell kit, that was a former Fujimi kit? VR, Russ
JUL 04, 2019 - 05:48 PM
Hmmm, I didn't know about the Revell - Fujimi connection. I picked up the Fujimi SH-3H kit, it was lacking instructions, but there were markings for 3 birds, two were 3Hs and 1 was a 3D. I managed to find the instructions for another Fujimi SH-3H and it appears that the this kit also includes parts for a 3D. I wonder of the Italeri is a descendant of the Fujimi kit the extra parts would be in it as well.

Sprue layouts are identical between Fujimi and this.

The the reason I asked is because years ago, when Fujimi released their "66", I bought one, but have since traded it away, and now I regret it. I thought I recognized the sprue layout in this kit. I always thought the Fujimi kit was the best kit of this helo in this scale. I'd heard Revell Germany had also released the Fujimi kit under it's label some years back, and was considering buying it then. Knowing the penchant Italeri has for reboxing Revell molds, I suspected this might be the old Fujimi kit. I'll see if I can look in the box at my LHS-- but again, Fujimi had the best kit. VR, Russ

Fans of the Westland Sea Thing should avoid this kit; it's a Sikorsky and therefore the RN decals will be inaccurate. Use the Revell or Dragon kits instead.

Ok, the instructions I downloaded were very poor quality, and now I can't find the original webpage. Here's an image of the two interiors from another instruction sheet. There are also 2 sets of sponsons, the instructions say that the smaller ones are for the SH-3D. Not sure about any other differences between the versions.

Hmm, still looks good, nonetheless.
