Hi Tim. Thanks for the heads-up. Ahh, these are good times for the VTOL fans. (Pun intended.) A while ago Modelsvit quietly came out with the Balzac, and now the VJ-101. But you might want to change the title. I thought "German X-2 VTOL? What's that? Probably yet another Luft-46 never-was... Well, you never know, let's have look." But someone's making a kit of the VJ-101!!! Good for them. I hope they do well by it. It's very high on my "Must have... must have... (makes zombie noises)" list. In the lates 50's, early 60's a lot of countries were mucking about with VTOL. There were supposed to be international consortiums but they argued too much. So Germany made the VJ-101, France made the Mirage IIIV and the Balzac and there was even an Aeritalia effort. They were all interesting failures. Nothing spectacular, it's just that they were all stuffed with lift engines. Except for one... The UK they came up the single-engined Kestrel (basically a huge engine with wings, ducts, a tail and a cockpit), waited till everybody stopped laughing, developed it into the Harrier and made aviation history.

Hi Marc, many thanks for the info. I changed the title. I tried to keep the title simple. I read there were two development aircraft: X-1 and X-2. Wiki has a fascinating article on them. All the best. tim

I never expected to see a kit of that aircraft in an injection molded form.

As Marc said earlier "Ahh, these are good times for the VTOL fans".
