After many, some may say too many, lean years here comes the goody years. Quite a big part of the modelers society was recently thrilled by the announcement of the upcoming new 1:72 scale kits of Polish PZL P.11 fighters from Czech Azur/Frrom company.
This information was first found at the Facebook profile of the Stratus Publishing where we found the attached pictures but was later confirmed by MPM/Azur on scale modelers discussion forums.

At first we will get two boxings of this fighter. PZL P.11c (most popular Polish fighter in 1939) will be released under original Azur brand, while the PZL P.11f as Azur Frrom. Company is also planning to release another boxing of the foreign users of P.11c.

ETA of this kit is October this year.

With a decent kit in 1/48 and a 1/32 promised there is certainly gap in 1/72 that needs filling with a kit to modern standards. It must be 40+ years since I built the Revell version, now long gone, and what has happened to the old Heller kit that wasn't too bad? All there is, is the RPM monstrosity that I cannot look at. Azur/Frrom did an excellent job with their P.24s so these P.11s should not be a disappointment. Finally something worthy to use those Techmod decal sheets on and perhaps there are many parts that can be utilised from the Part PE set. I suspect the P11f is mainly a different 'front end' with a few extra bits and pieces. I have often wondered why nobody has made a conversion for the Mirage kit. Typically Azur/Frrom will produce every version of a particular aeroplane so maybe there will eventually be a P.11a and P.11b. Coincidentally the Lotnictwo z Szachownicą 49 had just been published and has an article on the P.11f. LINK I hope there are some skis. I really want one with skis.

Hi Antoni, To be honest I have no idea what kit you mean. It is quite probably too long time ago for me. I heard a legends about Revell's kit of P.11c but I have never even seen one in plastic, just pics in the net. I remember however also ancient P.11c's from "PZW Siedlce" and its different later boxings. It would be still quite possible to build kit if only the molds would not be dagamed - on the upper and lower wings surfaces the sculpture of panels lines and corrugation aboulutely disappears. There's no way to cover it by any means. This kit was also reboxed by Master Craft few years ago, having the same error. There are also some Quasimodo-like incarnations, like for example from ZTS Plastyk, but I even don't touch it. This information about new kits from AZUR really electrified me a lot. I have read the article from "Lotnictwo z szachownicą" (in English it means "Aviation with chequerboard"). It is a translation of memoirs of Marcel Jurca, Romanian pilot whose first steps in combat unit were made on P.11f. The text was originally published in some French aviation magazine in mid 70's and was entitled "Le PZL P-11". Jurca simply reminds how big impression P.11f made on him, pleasure of flying, easy and steady flight and planes manoeuvrability. It is illustrated by about 5-7 photos of Romanian P.11f, including two on Szomanski skis and few from Jurca archive (and one with folded undercarrige) and few colour profiles - the same as presented on Jadar site.
