Saab SK-60 Still On Final Approach

New US manufacturer Pilot Replicas have been hit by a number of delays in bringing their home-grown products to market since they first appeared on the "rumour-radar" last year.

Based in Coral Springs, Florida, Pilot Replicas still aim to produce their kits entirely in the US. Their current planned initial line-up is a series of five 1:48 boxings of the Saab SK-60 (Saab 105) Swedish jet trainer, with more subjects to follow:

48001-Saab SK60 A
48002-Saab SK60 A&B-RM15
48003-Saab SK60 C
48004-Saab SK60 A-RM15
48005-Saab J105 OE “Tigerstaffel” Tiger meet 2008

I'm hoping these guys succeed. We can still build things in the English speaking world. We just have to remember how. Hopefully we get a review of this and it's good! I may just buy one on principle anyway.

The CAD rendering sure looks good. It's an awkward process walking into the world of manufacturing, and the molds and other necessary tools are a whole different world that most people aren't familiar with. I think I'm good giving a new company extra time and grace to allow them to get things as right as possible. It will be good to see quality offerings manufactured stateside again.

I hope that these people succeed, its a brae move to go compete in an already fairly saturated market against eastern "cheap labour" manufacturers. They have a very nice subject and they should take theri time developing it. A hastily produced kit that gets hammered in reviews for poor fit or errors could kill this start-up.
