Authentic Decals has released a 1/72 decal sheet titled “Presentation Spits” presumably these are Spits that were bought from public or private fund raising during WWII.
1/72 War gift: Presentation Spitfires Mk. II, V, IX
Ref no: AD72-55

I counted 14 different serial numbers so I presume there are 14 marking options.

P8505 STAMFORD Mk IIb UO*H 266 (Rhodesia) Sqn. Originally named JG. Stamford sent its Spitfire Fund cheque to Lord Beaverbrooke and wanted a photo of ‘their’ Spitfire. Name and coat of arms of Stamford replaced JG at Wittering, probably because JG was the easiest to cover up. It is not known if it reverted to JG. NB. Photo shows serial number in small characters on spine of fuselage. Not like on decal sheet. P8528 TOWNSHIP OF SHIPLEY Mk IIa PK*Janka 315 (Polish) Sqn AA879 MANCHESTER CIVIL DEFENDER MK Vb YQ*U 616 (South Yorkshire) Sqn. Form 78 has MANCHESTER CIVIL SERVICE but aircraft was marked ….DEFENDER. Famous for being flown by a F/Lt J.E.Johnson. EE602 CENTRAL RAILWAYS URUGUAYAN STAFF Mk Vc DV*V 129 (Mysore) Sqn. Photo shows serial number partly obscured by Sky fuselage band. Clipped wings. W3450 DUNOTTAR CASTLE Mk Vb JU*K 111 Squadron, EB*H 41 Sqn. Shot down 3rd March 1942 with 41 Sqn. Germans used it for spare parts to keep their captured Spitfires airworthy. AD370 ENDEAVOUR Mk Vb PJ*C 130 (Punjab) Sqn. ML242 TIMES OF CEYLON MK IX SK*A 165 (Ceylon) Sqn. Identification not positive but thought to be ML242. BS461 TURF CLUB I Mk IXc ZD*B 222 (Natal) Sqn. Renamed BIZZIE I. AD554 BEXLEY Mk Vb NX*Q 131 (County of Kent) Sqn. Flown by F/Lt J.C.S.Doll with personal name in Greek script. A made up name for a mythical creature. Push out panel on canopy. P7923 VENTURE I Mk IIa DB*R 411 (RCAF) Sqn. Serial number partly obscured by Sky fuselage band. P8394 GIBRALTAR Mk IIa ZP*S 74 (Trinidad) Sqn UM*J 152 (Hyderabad) Sqn. BM420 SPIRIT OF KENT LORD CORNWALLIS Mk Vb NX*A 131 (County of Kent) Sqn. Later converted to Seafire Mk Ib. P8044 Ist CANADIAN DIVISION Mk IIa EB*J 41 Sqn. There appears to be a 14th serial number on the decal sheet that is too small to read. Looks like it starts with PT. The only presentation Spitfire with a PT serial number I can find listed it PT409 BIJNAUR. Or could it be P8055?
