Just released by Platz is a new-tool 1:72 kit of the T-33 Shooting Star. First flying in 1948 as the TF-80C, the Lockheed T-33 flew for many years with over 40 air forces worldwide, including the Japan Air Self Defense Force with 210 licence-built built by Kawasaki in the 1950s.
Platz's kit looks to have an effectively detailed cockpit and undercarriage for this scale, and the air brakes can be modelled opened or closed. The rear fuselage is separate to allow the jet tail-pipe to be seen. Custom-printed Cartograf decals are included, with no less than 9 markings options for JSDF units:

That D shaped structure between the cockpits seems to have been tolarably rare. I've never seen one in person, and most photos I could find show that it wasn't installed: LINK LINK LINK LINK LINK LINK LINK LINK At first I thought it might have been a Japanese modification, but it wasn't fitted to all Japanese aircraft either: LINK LINK I was beginning to think that it was a figment of Platz' imagination when I found this: LINK The verdict? As always, use reference photos for the aircraft you intend to do

Hi Jessie Now you've got me hunting, I'm finding it in quite a few shots on the Net. It looks a bit heavy in the kit though. All the best Rowan
