Boeing CH-46E Sea Knight

by: Joe Szczygielski [ MOTHER ]

Additional tasks include support for evacuations, supply’s and equipment and over water search and rescues. Payload consists of:
Combat..2 pilots, aerial gunners, and 14 troops
Medical Evacuation.. 15 litters and 2 attendants
Cargo.. Max of 4,000lbs.
The Kit
All though the Sea Knight is in 1/48th, you do get a large box, which contains:
- 5 x large sprues & 1 x clear - altogether, 223 parts.
- Decal sheet with options to build 3 different USMC helicopters.
- 12 page instruction book that has real reference pics of the Sea Knight.

The kit is molded in soft gray plastic with engraved panel lines through out the fuselage and plenty of detail. You have a full interior, both up-front and back with a raised cockpit instrument panel. A decal is provided. The pilots seats have separate side armor plates, but lack the usually molded in seatbelts.

The cargo bay has a complete interior, but there are ejection pin marks in both compartment interior halves. Thes look easy to fill and sand with no problem. You have the option to install stretchers (litter), troop seats or both. The troop seats can be installed in the open or folded position, but they too lack molded seatbelts.

Depending on what aircraft you’re building, you need to pay attention to the instruction as there are holes to drill out.

Another nice feature is the 2 piece rotor head assembly, separate blades and many small pieces all in crisp detail.

The rear ramp can be positioned either open or closed, as can the side crew entry.
Decals
The large decal sheet provides you to build either of the 3 following helicopters:
157681 Marine Helicopter Sqn, Quantico VA
157713 HMM-162 YS/00, MCAS New River NC
153369 HMM-261 EM/05, MCAS New River NC
