They are from Orange Hobbies.

I know they are quite small but I have no idea if I will be able to get a decent harrier since as you can see it has quite a lot of photoetch for such a small aircraft.

Hello Everyone

I would like to join in with AV-8B Harrier II "Night Attack" from Hasagawa in 1/48 scale.

I have made a start on my Harrier, front office is complete. Hasagawa provides a complete set of decals for the cockpit, but also provides very nice raised detail, so I chose not to use the decals and dry brushed to bring the detail out.

Right then. I'm in with a Monogram AV-8A. This model holds a lot of nostalgia for me. I remember when my mom took me to Toys R' Us at the Brickyard mall in Chicago after makimg me go school clothes shopping. This was late summer of 1990, back when toy stores carried models. I had been building tanks for some years at that point, but this was my first aeroplane.

I'm not sure I ever finished it, so let's hop things go better this time.


So harrier I, second go. Here we go.

The surface detail is fine raised lines, and the fine details are quite nice for a 1980s kit.

Wow, that was fast!

Anything noteworthy in the construction of the fuselage and wings?

Hi Ralph,

I did not follow the instructions properly and almost got caught with the wing sections, the instruction call for attaching the lower sections to the fuselage and then attaching the upper portion of the wing. As luck would have it, the plastic had enough flex that I was able to make it fit over the fuselage. Other than that the only other issue is the intakes, with all the masking you need to leave these off till you have the fuselage painted.

Well I have completed my Harrier.







I had some issue's with this build and made a few mistakes along the way, but overall I am happy the way it turned out.
The low vis decals for this bird almost completely blend in with the paint (good thing, the intake decals where not pleasant to deal with) if you are doing the high vis version I would recommend you have the vanes in the closed position.

I will continue to follow this forum to see all the great builds.

I've decided to build an MPC 1/24 Harrier that I've beem dragging around for 20 or so years...



did some work on the seat last night

It suddenly occurs to me that there's no ribbon for this campaign. Any thoughts?

Engine built. Not detailed as it will not be visible in the completed build. Exhaust ducts are simply pressed in place.

Hi all.
Nice work on your Harrier Ted. Mike that seat looks superb, particularly the cushioning.

A bit of a late start from me, but I'm in with Kinetics 1/48 Sea Harrier FRS.1.



A very impressive looking set of parts in the box so let’s see how this kit builds up. I also like the choice of markings.



As always I started with the detailed cockpit. As you can see the instrument panel and side consoles have some fine raised detail. The ejector seat will be built later.
