Hi all,Ive been asked to build a P51D for a mate of mine he wants it in olive drab,now is this a different drab that I would use on armour I can only get humbrol tamyia or revell at the moment.next question,is humbrol interior green ok for U.S. planes.thanks for any help.

Can't comment on the humbrol interior green, as I'm not familiar with it.

As for the OD, yes it's the same on Aircraft and Armor.

For American WW2 cockpit interiors I use Humbrol 117.

Cheers Nigel,sorry I didnt post any photo's of my mark9 spitfire,the chap i built it for couldnt wait to get his hands on it, he was really chufed but I wasnt it was my first plane and I was very critical of it espescially the Dday stripes.well I hope to improve on the Mustang,thanks for the help.

North American painted their P-51 cockpits a dark green. I don't know if those built by other plants used the same or the ubiquotous interior green.

Fresh OD used on acft was a dark color, railroad Pullman Green is close, or Tamiya out of the bottle. However, it weathered of course, and I have some color pix of Gentile's "Shangri La" in which it was a brownish-OD.

I recently bought a magazine with a recent article by US acft guru Dana Bell, about WWII OD. It opened my eyes to some things. If you'd like, I'll pull it out and give specifics.
