Hi,

Not to step on your toes, Penny/Yoda, but I'd like to know if anybody is interested in making a WWII Luftwaffe Aircraft as a group build.

Since a lot of people were keen on making a Ju-88, I'd just like to test the waters ..

The rules for this would be as follows:
- It must be a German Luftwaffe plane.
- It must be 1/48 or 1/72 scale.
- Kit can be any make, no restrictions.
- OOB, no aftermarket parts. However, you can design or buy your own decals or paint them as you feel like. Scratchbuilding allowed.
- The planes can be any of these(we can have a poll on which one, if Jim permits )
* A Junkers Ju-88
* A Messerschmitt Bf 109
* A Junkers Ju 87 Stuka
* A Messerschmitt Me 262
- I can take up the admin part for the build. However, if the builders feel like it, I am ready to pass on the baton to the seniormost person who takes part in the build .

Looking forward to a healthy discussion on this topic....

Rgds,
BP.

I know I had gave my initial sign up for the F4U Corsair, but if we are doing a Luftwaffe build, then I am switching side. (Sorry) #:-)

I like to do a Ju-87. Now all I need to figure out is how to do the frames on the canopy....

One more thing, can we also including FW-190 in the selection?

Hi SS-74,

As I said, we can go in for a poll on what A/C to do, if Jim allows it.

FW-190 can also be added to the list, no problems :-) !

BTW, I'm ready to help with the canopy frames masking if anybody wants...

Sign me up BP! Tamiya's Corsair is a bit beyond my budget. I also don't want to ruin a very good kit with what skills I have

I also like to do an FW-190 especially the colorful "Papagei Staffel" escorts.

I think we can do what happened at the Armor side, they have a group build for the Panther A, Sherman, as well as the Hummer. So maybe we can also do the F4U, the Luftwaffe, and maybe a Vietnam Jet/Fighter (maybe can do an AD-1, that's a cool plane)

:-) Cont me in. I'll do both group builds. Mine will be both JU-88 and FW-190 in a
Mistel-2/S2 combination

Hi Guys,

Fair enough ! Actually, I wanted the A/C build to take off this way (pun intended ).

So, let's wait for some more guys to sign up, and we can ask Jim to put up a poll for the Luftwaffe build. Is it OK by everybody if one plane gets selected, and everybody works on that?

That way, as Holdfast pointed out in another post, we can all share research material for one AC, instead of having to hunt for too many planes at one go.

On the other hand, if somebody wants to do an additional Luftwaffe model along with the group build, or wants to go along in parallel with the Corsair group, no problems ! After all, it's just a question of bandwidth, and if he/she can make two or three A/C instead of one, COOL !

So far, I have had two nominations for a FW109, two for a Ju-88(incl mine ) and one for a Ju-87.

So let me know if you folks need a poll put up for the Luftwaffe kits and I'll ask Jim to do the needful. We can then start off...Heave Ho!

I have a suggestion, let's not limit ourselves to one kit, I have no problem that we all do one type of plane, but if limit to one kit then it kills my interest and maybe many others as well.

For example, in Jeepney's case, he might think that the tamiya is a bit more than what he like to pay in the case of corsair, and in my case, because I am a total novice I will look for some nice/easy build kit. Then I will deliberately buy Tamiya... Just a thought

SS-74,

I have covered this in my first post ! I deliberately didn't want to specifiy the kit make or scale , since some kits may not be available or affordable to all people in the build.

The point is, let's just have fun building a Luftwaffe plane !

Hope this answers your Q..

Hey guys,
No problem at all if you want to do both builds at the same time. Heck, I will build both the Corsair and a Bf109.... :-) I've got another 32 scale Bf109 G-6 that's just waiting to be opened, but if that scale is too big, not a problem... We can certainly conduct these builds so it's fun for all involved......

Aw, count me in as well! :-)
Hasegawa's 1/48 Bf-109 G-14 awaits...
Hmm... What's the timeframe on the Luftwaffe build? If it's the same as the Corsair build, I'd be trying to build two kits in the same period of time.

Hi All,

Hey, that's lovely! I'm seeing so many people ready to go for two kits at the same time. WAAAY TO GO, fellow A/C Modelers!

OK, I think it's decided that we'll go in for any Luftwaffe plane in 1/48 scale. This is b'cos we now have 2 FW190's, 2 Me 109s, 2 Ju-88s, and one Stuka (Whew! That's a heck of a count !).

Fine, so here are the final rulez for the Luftwaffe Group Build. Suggestions are welcome!
- Any Luftwaffe plane of the following (FW190/Me109/Ju-88/Ju-87) in German markings(no Allied captured stuff plz !)
- Scale can be in 1/32, 1/48 or 1/72.
- ANY KIT can be used, no restrictions. If you get one dirt cheap, go for it !
- OOB models. Preferably, no aftermarket parts. This is b'cos some people(like me ) can't afford them, or have access to them in other parts of the world. However, if you wanna deck up your plane and you have the dough, pls do so, and do let us know !
- Scratchbuilding allowed.
- Decals : Anything goes! Handpainted, kit decals, aftermarket decals, etc.
- Dates : Start date Jan 1, 2003. End date April 30 2003. This is open for discussion, but since some of you may be working on two kits for the two builds , I think this is OK. You can work on one instead of watching the paint dry on the other ! Also, I can advance the start date to Dec 1, if everybody has a kit on hand, and doesn't want to wait until Jan to start .
- Reference material can be shared.

I will be moderating the build, if it's OK by all . Or else, do pick someone else b4 we start!

So, go for your kits, and let's start working on that plastic!

Cheers,
BP.

However, it you still want, we can have a poll, but that may spin off into more sub group builds, and become a problem to handle...

I'll put up a new thread for the rules. I think we have quite a number on board now ...

Cheers,
BP.
