My Company First Sergeant was in charge of an Agent Orange mixing and loading team during VN. At that time, the Army was in charge of mixing and loading aboard these 123s, and flew along as observers. He told many stories about what it was like to load and then fly endless patterns over the jungle. Sadly he died of throat cancer in 1983, a byproduct of Agent Orange. I frequently visited Johnston Island in the late 80s and early 90s as we were storing the residual Vietnam Agent Orange components for destruction at the Johnston Island Chemical Agent Decontamination Facility (JACADS). My First Sergeant was a great guy, I’ll have to build one of these in honor of him.
