I have got to finish something. Too many builds in progress. Now that I found some instructions, I'm still planning on the Seamew.

Mark, I see that Hangar Queen 9 Campaign has been in session. I have 11 airplanes that would qualify.

Alex,

Do the Mavis!!

I'm torn between doing a Dave, or a PBY...though after my last Monogram build (B-24) I'm a bit burned out on the big ones!

Here is my entry for this campaign:-

I will be building this as the aircraft that found the Bismark.
First I will have to fill the wheel wells in the hull sides.

Noup, haven't panel lines.Only raised rivets(nice small, about half size Hasegawa H8K Emily). But overall kit not so perfect as usual Hasegawa kits.

Main wing completed.Wing end somthere behind a horizont.Note:diferent thikness center part and both end parts(about 1.5 mm !!!).Big gap between air intake cowlings wing part and engine.I'm use high viscosity cyanoacrilate for fill gap and reduce different thikness on the wings.

Just seeking clarification on this. No float planes only hull on the water aircraft, correct?

Erm, huh, what? Hull in the water, no floats??

This was my plan. There's still time to change, but I guess we need a clarification.

Didn't want to cause confusion but I always considered flying boats and float planes differing types and to plagiarise Wikipedia:

A flying boat is a fixed-winged seaplane with a hull, allowing it to land on water, that usually has no type of landing gear to allow operation on land. It differs from a floatplane as it uses a purpose-designed fuselage which can float, granting the aircraft buoyancy.

Hi Stephen
Float planes accepted.Technically float planes just an modification land based planes(mostly) what can float .So it's flying boats.
Campainign name - Sea based planes not so perfect:|

Thank's Jose
Deep digging about fuselage everywhere, special for H6K5 modification
Forfard and spine gunner position wrong at this kit, tail gun and waist blister empty, not present bomb racks and etc.etc .So some will be stratch building, some will be used from my kits trash box.

Progress
Wing - first silver layer done
Fuselage interior painted,an additional decks for gunner added (nothing special just plastic sheets).Anyway interior very primitive and not be visible - so I'm not concetrate at this.
Floats completed.Top gunner position project - make thinner main frame(from 2.5mm to 1.0mm),gun base + sliding cover

Alex - nice to see your progress on the Mavis. I have had one in my closet so long that the decals are likely to be junk. Are aftermarket decals available? Anything else to improve this old chestnut?

Many photos of these aircraft show them to be pretty weathered. It would be fun to build the model that looks that way.

Thank's Paul
I see only one aftermarket decals(check at scalemate site) but nothing special - hinomaru(red circle) and numbers - all can be made yourself
Mmmm heavy weathering - no.Just area around engines and waterline. All another color modulation(if I can )
Another improvment - gun from "mini world" company

So next part - FUSELAGE !!!!!
It was real hell.Different size and geometry!!(forward part) fuselage halves.Difference was eliminated by medium viscosity cyanoacrilate glue(yes I'm fanatic of this, better than putty). In result on the top of fuselage rivets disappear(restored by riveter)Don't know how it's will be looking after painting (raised and holled rivets).Top and forward gun position completed, tail blister cut for open position.Small window plastic useless(to big gap),I'm use micro-kristal after painting for this.
Need a visit menthal clinic or after all
Yes it's Hasegawa SPECIAL edition from 2013
