I am building the P40b flying tigers and would like to know a couple pf things.I am painting it in the lifecolor paints.

1.what is the actual color of the underside of the plane?

The colors the I was told were these, light grey(LFC-21),grey(LFC-43)or neutral grey(LFC-46).

2.also what is the color of the cockpit?
I hope you guys can help.
Thank you

There's some research published at the IPMS Canada webpage on this very question.

Christian, the red is optional on the Pilot's personal effects, not on the aircraft.

Which kit? What do the instructions say? I'm surprised they don't give a brand reference - from there you could check a conversion chart.

Take a look at these two articles for the exterior colors....
http://www.ratomodeling.com/finished/tigerdown/
http://ratomodeling.com/articles/AVG_cammo/

The consensus on the interior was an olive green based on a mix of 50% zinc chromate yellow and 50% black

Best I can offer is out of eaglefiles #4 "tigers over china". There wasnt a dupont match for the prescribed RAF color "sky type S". So they propose that FS 16473 aircraft gray is the likely candidate. A cool light gray with a very slight blue green tinge.
