The evenings are already beginning to draw in, signalling the arrival of autumn - and with it, the latest edition of Windsock - Albatros Productions' leading quarterly WWI aviation modelling magazine. Highlights include the first proper look at Aviattic's new 1:32 Ansaldo A.1 with accompanying archive and walkaround photos, a selection of spectacular Camels to whet your appetite still further (as if needed!) for the forthcoming Wingnut Wings kit, plus the continuation of the late great Harry Woodman's revised Vintage Aircraft Modelling in Plastic Card.

An Albatros D.Va replica performed an emergency landing while flying from France to Headcorn Aerodrome in Kent, England on Sept.15, 2016. The aircraft apparently suffered power loss and came to rest upside down in a field between Pluckley and Bethersden. Thankfully, the pilot reportedly escaped unharmed.

According to Headcorn Aerodrome duty controller David Kember “The plane was damaged, but it can be rebuilt and repaired, but that’s what can happen when you’re operating a vintage aircraft, there is a slight risk. The pilot was able to land it safely and that’s the main thing.”

The aircraft is a precise replica that has appeared at numerous events around Europe in recent years.

Hi Stephen

It was very sad, wasn't it. You can get a clear look at the damage on the good old Beeb:

It makes clear just how fortunate the pilot was.

All the best
