The various Barclay schemes were experimental only. There were effective camouflage, but were laborious to apply and maintain. Thus, when the US Navy came to decide upon camouflage colours, they chose solid colours. First, non-specular blue-grey over light grey, then the three colour scheme which added Sea blue uppers and changed the lower colour to white, and finally the overall glossy sea blue.
