I was born in Saffron Walden in Essex and spent the first 25 years living there before moving to Canada.
RAF Deben was close by (and also RAF Duxford).
I had spent many hours at Debden as an aircadet both at the shooting range which was the old aircraft gun pits and launching gliders by winch.
My first build for this campaign will be Capt Don Gentile's P-51B Mustang, 336FS,4th FG
My second build will be a Mk1 Hurricane of the 85 Sq which also flew from Debden.

In keeping with my generally Civil tendencies, I'm going to choose as my local airfield Boundary Bay where I work, and my aircraft of choice shall be a Super Puma which is operated by a helicopter company which maintains some facilities there.
Here is a representative of one of the company's Super Pumas, this one in the UK:

And I shall use this Italeri Super Puma kit. It has all the parts necessary to make a Civil Super Puma.

I also have the Eduard Etch set to play with.

Well for my build I will be using Revells 1/32nd Spitfire IIa, along with Pavla and Eduard update sets. Mal has kindly given me a couple of sets of Miracle Masks to finish her off.

The markings will be of
Unit: 145 Sqn, RAF
Serial: SO-M (P8071)
Tangmere, Sussex, UK, March 1941.

This will be my entry, the Airfix Vampire T.11 finished as just coming out of the factory of DeHavilland at Hatfield, so, clean and with no squadron markings.

Jessie, JClapp had peaked my interest in 1/144 airliners which I have not touched since the middle 1960's. I have just purchased several kits from that auction site and would like to pick the knowledge of those in the know re: which kits, decals, and where to go for photos and in one case how to fix the warp in the wings of a 727 which came bagged, but with out instructions are the decals.

Bob for photos go to http://m.airliners.net they don't just have civil stuff.

Fixing warped wings is often a matter of gluing slowly in stages while holding them pressed under heavy weights to straighten them out. In extreme cases some just-boiled water can make them soft enough to bend back into shape. Let me know which kits and I can suggest decal schemes if you haven't got decals for them.
Draw Decals, 2 6 Decal, F-DCAL and Flying Colors are some of the ususl suspects to turn for when you want aftermarket schemes

Until I can see the top of my workspace, I'll have to watch this campaign. Give me a few months to organize.
Already a wide variety getting going here-- heavy on the English so far.

Hi all,
I have had to change up my entry a bit from what I originally planned. I was intending to build a Typhoon base at RAF Fairlop, but I was unable to find any decals for a fairlop based Typhoon in the correct scale (the tiffy kit I have in the stash is 1:72, closest I could find was 1:48) so I have altered my entry - I will now be building a Mk IX Spitfire with markings to represent a machine that flew from RAF Hornchurch instead as Hornchurch is about a 5-10 minute drive in the opposite direction from Fairlop, so still pretty local, and I have been able to dig out a kit for which I can easily obtain the correct markings.

The backup victim is a 1:48 scale Spitfire Mk IXe from Hasegawa






The decals are on order so should be here in a week or two, even so, this may be a slow burner as I have gone a tad campaign crazy recently and have 2 builds on the bench at the minute plus many more planned

Wikipedia says that CPG Products Corporation was MPC, and since MPC reboxed Airfix kits, that's likely the Airfix 727 you've got. See my posts in the Airfix campaign thread on how to deal with this model

Ok made a start on my Vampire T.11 and it is now at the stage ready for paint.

This will be finished as a factory fresh machine coming off the production line at Hatfield my local airfield, the home of DeHaviland.

So, I got some goodies in the post a couple of days ago, meaning that my Hornchurch spitfire build is now ready to go!

Well paint has reached plastic, base coat is on.

I'm in with a Hurricane Mk.I 1/48th Airfix kit. I am using Xtradecal for Flt. Lt. Ian Gleed, flying out of my local aerodrome Exeter, Devon. He was stationed here with No 87 squadron during August 1940.





I was going to do it for the Battle of Britain campaign but this seemed a better option.

Well my 1/32nd Spitfire has started, I will upload some pics when I get the cockpit done.

Joining in. Will use the Niagara District Airport. I am going to build a Learjet, not sure what livery I will use.

I'm happy to see some new faces joining in, we should have a nice mix of aircraft.
Well my build has finally got off the ground, well out of the box and onto my desk.
I started with the cockpit, and added the resin Pavla sidewalls, and metal type seat (yes I know that would probably be fitted with the red plastic seats, but the Revell one is horrible and the Pavla offering does look better). The Eduard seat once folded and bent to shape is a bit wider then the Pavla seat, which I found out when adding the back cushion and had too cut it down.
The rudder pedals are Eduard along with the instrument panel, and harness.
I used Xtracrylix's interior green and a couple of washes of burnt sienna to finish it off.
Next up is attaching the outstanding parts to the cockpit sidewalls in the upper fuselage sides, and adding the tail wheel before closing her up.
