Hello to all.

Some nice builds going on here. I esp like the F-104's as that is my favorite jet.

I guess I'm jumping in at the end but thats how life is and its been a busy summer..

I found this one on sale and bought it for my stash and thought it would make a great build for this campaign.

The P-38J Yippee. The 5,000th P-38 built.

I will say the color is hard to pin down as there is conflicting information on the net over it being red or orange or some color in between.

Anyways Yippee here we go.

Better late than never Delbert ! I hope you can finish this in such a short time, it would add another unique type to the Lockheed collection finished so far.

@Tinbanger : Nice! Congrats on completing the starfighter, it looks ace.

Hello, its me again...

put a bit of time on the project.

so far as you can see from the photo the kit is small, has no cockpit to speak of and panel lines are minimal.. doing the dry fit and so far so good just a bit of sanding and filling needed..

Hi Delbert, I am very glad to see another 1/144 scale subject in here. One of the advantages of the scale is you can get one built and finished in a few weeks. Go to it!

Hey Richard, another fine finish. Thanks for contributing as always. Can we see a picture of the two CF-104s together?

last two weeks of the campaign are often busy, I hope some other campaigners can make it to the finish line!

Me again..

Heres the latest. Assembly is pretty much complete got most of the sanding done, just got a couple of spots I'm letting putty dry..

As you can see I choose the "in flight" version.. no props or landing gear.. looks good on the couple of 1/144 jets I did, not so sure for a prop plane..

as you can see there is no detail at all in the cockpit. I have an idea on how to make that look somewhat good, we will see.. thats what its all about trying things.. I happen to have a bunch of these 1/144 aircraft stashed in the stash and I kinda like doing them.. LOL

I like a disc of very thin clear plastic for in-flight props

very nice.. I may try that in the future.. This build is turning into a testbed for me on a couple of things..

here is a photo of the canopy I gave it a tint and tried to make it opaque a bit.. and I know I think the blue tint came out to blue but its what I tried and there is no turning back.. LOL

I think after this one all my other 1/144 props will be gear down on the ground and I'l leave the in flight stuff to the jets..

from a prev build.

Just a little over a week left everyone, this campaign closes at midnight, 1 November (I consider that midnight at the international date line, I like to stretch these out). Get cracking!

Yep I know I'm a procrastinator, I try to attend the help group meetings but they keep getting postponed.

Anyways here is a little more work.. i used a reddish orange for my base, and I'm working in stages in airbrushing the canopy rails. isn't going to be exact, but I'm just going to have fun with it..

It looks dam good.
Ive masked a few 144 canopies in my day.

The blue tint worked pretty well too. the usual approach to this kit is to paint that absence-of-cockpit black, but youve got a nice result there.

edit to add: the Orange looks great! Orange is my favorite color. Orange is fast! its also a challenging color to shoot.

Hi,
Give me 24hrs to complete my kit, at the end of Sunday, Nov. 1st. It's wanted little time to paint and apply decal.

Hope you accept my wish,
Sincerely,
K.

That's a great scheme on the straighter eMan.
I really like how your panel line shading is very subtle on the white side. Great job!

Well here it is. I'm not very happy with the In-flight look, and the canopy could have used some more work but the think cracked almost down the middle and I decided not to risk it anymore..

It is a nice color of orange if I say so myself. :>

good builds everyone.. and I love all the F-104's

Good going Delbert, It is a very nice orange finish, and the YIPPEE logo went on nicely.
