Well I'm not expert on the Devastator, but I have to say it looks superb. Right I off to hide behind the sofa before the flack starts
Nice one Rowan

Hi Tim

Judging by the sprue-shots, GWH have adopted a much better way of depicting fabric surfaces than in their previous kits.

All the best

Wow!
750+ clicks and 36 hours after posting the kit has not been rated the disappointment of the century. Either we have a decent job on our hands or a love 'n joy 'n peace epidemic has spread.
Quite frankly I am surprised!
Merry Christmas!

I am no expert either, but it seems to me that the GWH is fast progressing and surely advances their reputation in the plastic nebula. This looks more than a decent kit to me, but let's wait what others have to say. You guess my point, don't you!

Hi Guido

Ooh - I don't know... those moulded painting lines on the prop blades had me all set to declare it "fatally flawed"!

The fusalage comes in two halves, the wings are in top and bottom sections, so it's obviously a copy of the Monogram kit!
It's true, I read in on the internet!!

Tongue firmly in cheek folks,

Oh come on guys, it's christmas, don't be so mean !

Cheers, D

P.S. the first thing that I noticed is that the radius on the tailhook is out of scale by at least 0.025mm, I would never buy it based on that !!

That cannot be right, the canopy looks blue to me!

I wonder how many are out there trying to find a photograph of a real Devastator at almost the same angle, so they can point out that the canopy is wrong? That is apart from the fact that it is blue!

Sorry but the canopy IS wrong on this realease: They just can"t help themselves...

The HB"s tilting sliding-opening canopy part of the pilot"s station has the U frames about as tall in the front as in the rear: Look here and tell me if that even remotely resembles the opened and tilted part here...:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e44/modeldad/2675e57f.jpg

The good thing is, we have the 35 + years old Monogram canopy to fix that, and the GW release might be improved enough in other ways to make it a good purchase, provided the Monogram kit"s outstanding clear parts will fit it...

If they don"t, then you probably want to keep the Monogram kit...

Squadron-Falcon vacu form clear parts might have more flex to fit this thing as a last resort... It does look promising, if nothing else, considering GW"s habit of copying major Monogram dimensions to a T...

Here is a clear pic of a Mongram Devastator build on the Airbrush Technique website. It appears to me that if the front U-frame on the tilting/sliding section was the same height as the rear, there would be a gap above the windscreen about 8 inches high. Plenty of fresh air in the pilots face. Either that or the "outstanding Monogram clear parts" are fatally flawed also.

This time i can't even keep quiet about this nit-picking

in the picture you link, clearly the back side of pilot canopy frame matches the frame immediately behind it. If the front of the frame was nearly the same height, the bottom of that front frame would nearly rest on the fuselage since the top of it is right on top of the rearward frame.

not even remotely buying your argument this time, as no amount of arguments about angles or perspective can save you on this one.

No Gaston...........you just can't help yourself, how about, just once, looking for the good in a kit?.............................Na, that will never happen, but that doesn't matter to me, I don't listen to your ramblings anyway; I like to enjoy my modelling, it is a HOBBY after all errrrrrrrrr isn't it?

... it would have bordered a miracle, but then ...
It's a pitty that even though you can hide a user, you can't hide him when being quoted.
It's always sad to see someone suffering a hobby.
My sincere condolences to that tragic fate!
Cheers,

Just remember the famous quote by Thomas Jefferson: Never believe everything you read on the internet!

Looks like a cool kit to me. My only complaint is that it probably will be out of my price range.
