This new book is available from SAM Publications. The battle of Khalkhin Gol was the decisive engagement of the undeclared Russian-Japanese Border Wars, fought between the Soviet Union, Mongolia and the Empire of Japan in 1939. The conflict was named after the Khalkhin Gol River which passed through the battlefield and in Japan the battle was known as the ‘Nomonhan Incident’ and resulted in the total defeat of the Japanese Sixth Army.

I wonder if planes of the often-overlooked Manchukuoan and Mongolian air forces will be covered also? Because technically, the conflict was fought over the border between these two countries, even though Japan and the USSR came to the aid of their clients, and did most of the fighting.
