introduction
In the middle of December it is time for The New Year's Cup organized for the fifth time by the Modelling Club "Oluj" (The Storm).
the show
This year it took place on a foggy Sunday, December the 16th in the most appropriate place for modelling show - Museum of the Yugoslav Aviation at Nikola Tesla (Surchin) International Airport near Belgrade.

The show took place in the center of the circular museum building with display tables surrounding the Soko J-22 "Orao" (The Eagle) - the pride of former Yugoslav aviation.

There were 311 models of all genres in competition with aeronautical section being the strongest. Beside 3 main and 33 subcategories there were also 4 special categories celebrating the Centennial of Military Aviation in Serbia. There were also many more non-competing models on display (models from Memorial Room at Batajnica Air Base), presentations of modelling clubs (SVM from Slovenia among them) and modelling market.

One very important aspect of The New Year's Cup is that it's international with competitors from Serbia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Macedonia and Slovenia; all in all a little less than 200 competitors. The Slovenian delegation was "5 men and 1 girl strong" and we didn't go home "empty-handed" if you know what I mean ;).

The Best of Show prize was won by Milan Radulovich for his stunning Academy's MiG-21bis/17136 in modern Serbian markings.
conclusion
At the end I would like to mention that we spent a pleasant weekend in Belgrade with many thanks to our Serbian friends for their hospitality and see you next year. Enjoy...
