About Kevlar06
I 'm a retired U.S. Army Colonel, serving 30 years on active duty. I started building models in 1959, when my brother-in-law gave me a 1/32 Monogram Jeep and 37mm gun kit, which I still have. I graduated to Aurora, Renwal and ITC plastic kits in the early 60s. After a break in model building from 1970 to 1998, I came back to the hobby when my educator wife asked me to build aircraft from the Wright Flyer to the Space Shuttle to hang in her classroom. Retiring from the Army in 2006, I worked as a Vocational Intern and employment researcher for disabled workers, and built model aircraft and ships for commission. I also worked part-time in a local Hobby shop from 2006-2013, but I'm fully retired now. I was fortunate in my military career to serve as an Armor/Cavalry Officer and as a Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Defense Officer, where I served in assignments with the Navy, Marines and Air Force. Thus my interest in Armor, Aircraft and Ships. I'm also a figure painter since 1966, and build classic cars and pre-1969 open wheel racers. I've recently been doing research and building spacecraft and missiles from the dawn of the Space Age, and have amassed a sizable collection of WWI and Golden Age era aircraft in 1/32 scale. Now, if I could just figure out an easy way to upload photos to Kitmaker....
