F-15 Eagle seamless intakes for Revell 1/48th kits

Introduction
Phase Hanger Resin produce a number of after market sets in 1/32nd, 1/48th, 1/72nd and 1/144th scales, and mainly produce seamless intakes. Other items they sell and produce are various weapons, pylons, intakes, exhausts, correction parts and intake covers for a number of aircraft, mainly jets on the whole.

So whilst browsing thier site, I came across the F-15 Eagle seamless intakes for Revell kit, of which I have the 1/48th E version, and being a lazy bugger on the whole, I decided to purchase the intake set, so I didnt have to worry about getting rid of the seam down the middle of the trunking.
It took a couple of months to get the parts from across the pond as Phase Hanger was getting a 95% fail rate on casting the parts, and being a man with scruples he couldnt justify sending out a less then perfect item, which is highly comendable in my book (I wasn't in a particular rush anyway), but once notification was sent they were on there way they ariived in around two weeks at the most, packed very securely in a box with brown paper crushed up as box filler so the items didn't rattle around the box, (a friend ordered a few sets for the Airfix and Kittyhawk Jaguars at the same time to save on postage).

In the box
Arriving in a clear blister pack with a card insert with the product information on it, the two resin seamless intakes are well protected in seperate clear bags inside the packaging.

Each intake consists of three parts each, the one piece intake trunking, the compression fan and the intake ramps.
Casting is exceptional with no air bubbles, or discrepencies found on any of the parts.

A little clean up will be needed on the rear of the intakes, but nothing a quick swipe with a sanding stick wont take care of. The intake ramps need a small casting block cut off, but a sharp scalpel should take care of that no problem.

Now these intakes are a straight drop in replacement for the kits two piece trunking, and are a marked improvement as there is no seam line to fill and sand, thus taking the hassle out of this part of the build.

Another great thing about this set is they are cast in white, so there is really no need to paint them (the intakes are white on the real aircraft).

The intake ramps has some rather nice details moulded onto them, which being white is a bit of a pain to photograph and see the details on them, but they are much more sharper then on the kits parts.

The compressor blades are pretty much the same as the kits, maybe a little more refined, but too tell the truth unless you look down the trunking with torch you wont see much of them anyway.

Please remember, when contacting retailers or manufacturers, to mention that you saw their products highlighted here - on AEROSCALE.
SUMMARY
Highs: Beautifully cast. Easy to use.
Lows: Maybe the wait for them, but under the circumstances worth it.

I started modelling in the 70's with my Dad building Airfix aircraft kits. The memory of my Dad and I building and painting a Avro Lancaster on the kitchen table will always be with me. I then found a friend who enjoyed building models, and between us I think we built the entire range of 1/72 Airfi...
