In the box
The Eduard Self adhesive Harrier GR.1 interior set is for the Airfix kit, but could be used in most other manufacturers 1/72nd scale offerings.

The one pre-coloured fret, and one clear film sheet of plastic for the HUD display come in a resealable bag, along with one A4 size set of instructions.
The majority of the fret holds parts for the cockpit, but there are about six parts for the exterior in the way of panels and vents.

Starting of with the ejection seat, this has two new cushions, a panel for the top of the seat, and a ejection pull handle added. A full set of harnesses, which the kit only supply attached to the pilot figure are also supplied. The harnesses are made up of nine parts and are all pre-coloured and self adhesive.

The cockpit tub has new rudder pedals to replace the moulded on parts. The side consoles has a set of instrument panels for one side and a throttle handle for the other side.

The cockpit side walls also have several parts to address the lack of detail in the kit, with panels and a shelf to be added.

The instrument panel is a three piece sandwich, with the kit part forming the back part. The kits IP is a decal, so the Eduard parts do look a lot better and has more depth.

A HUD is supplied with the clear film sheet holding four parts, so plenty of spares to feed the carpet monster with. This replaces the kits one piece moulded part.

The canopy has a detonation cord to be glued to the inside of the canopy along with a rear view mirror. two parts for the canopy sliding rails are also supplied. A nice touch is the inclusion of a windscreen wiper for the front canopy section.
The rear of the canopy framing has parts to replace the moulded on detail, along with a section behind the cockpit.

The instructions are printed in a black and blue line drawings, with symbols to tell you what parts are to be replaced, have detail added too. Any parts that need to be removed are shaded in red.
The instructions are clear, precise and easy to follow.

SUMMARY
Highs: A great set to detail the interior.
Lows: Most of the smaller parts will need glue to attach them as the self adhesive doesn't really hold them in place.
Verdict: Airfix's Harrier is a great little kit, and this Eduard set busys the cockpit up to a nice detailed level.

I started modelling in the 70's with my Dad building Airfix aircraft kits. The memory of my Dad and I building and painting a Avro Lancaster on the kitchen table will always be with me. I then found a friend who enjoyed building models, and between us I think we built the entire range of 1/72 Airfi...
