Fokker Spinne Type III

  • move
The model is fully scratchbuilt in 1/45 scale. Fuselage made from brass rods and styrene, wings from paper and copper wire. Prop from 5 balsa sheets. Spoked rims from fishing line and rubber band. Engine from styrene bits. Used wig hair for the rigging. Turnbuckles from solder wire with flattened ends. You can see a work in progress thread (although in greek I'm afraid) here: http://www.modelclub.gr/forums/index.php/topic,33032.0.html

Thanks guys! Your comments are very much appreciated. This was my first fully scratch built model and my first airplane. Learned a lot, most of all how to be patient...

That is some splendid work there, Nikos! It looks like some sort of malevolent insect... wonderful!

That is incredible work Nick. I wouldn't know where to begin taking on something like that. I'm in awe.

The only person crazier than the scratchbuilder is the fool who agreed to fly the damn thing! All kidding aside, amazing work.

Thank you guys!. If you check out the WIP photos, it wasn't that hard, just a lot of trial and error

Great work, lovely model! One nitpick: “spinne” is German and Anthony Fokker was Dutch, so the aircraft was call “Spin”.

Thank you for clearing that up! I saw it written both ways and didn't know why.

This model belongs in a museum, so non-modelers can appreciate the quality!!!
