Hans von Hippel's D.Va

history
The Albatros D.Va was an attempt at improving the D.III. Unfortunately the attempt was not successful despite the more powerful engine. The aircraft's increased weight and weak lower wing rendered it inferior to the Allies' contemporary aircraft. Despite its weaknesses, the D.V served for a relatively long time at the Front, and was the mount of many of Germany's Aces. Although it was replaced early in 1918 by the Fokker D.VII, it still served in front line units to the last day of the war.
the kit
Wingnut Wings' kit of the D.Va is widely recognised as the best kit of this aircraft in existence to date. Its execution is so precise that no paint should be allowed to foul the mating surfaces in order to prevent fit issues. An excellent model may be built right out of the box, and the addition of even a modicum of aftermarket parts results in a masterpiece.

The kit rewards careful painting, and when combined with careful masking yields the results shown here.

I like it! Just enough weathering and not too shiny.

Painting, decaling, and weathering is simply 1st class. A very well built model. As usual, well done rigging just amazes me. Joel

Gas Patch: http://www.gaspatchmodels.com/turnbuckles/ Thanks Guys, one thing though I did not use Pheon decals. The Lozenge is WNW's and the flash is painted. Mike T
