Mike Wofe chose Tamiya's superlative P-47 as the canvas for his first attempt at a natural metal finish. Mike chose to pose the model in a vignette showing the aircraft parked at its dispersal point surrounded by spare drop tanks and other extras from the kit.

The dark dropcloth gives a splendid 'dusk' feel to the photographs, conveying the feeling of a hard day's work completed.

Great job, one of my favorite American WW2 fighters. The paint and weathering are perfect. Just one issue in my opinion, the invasion stripes are a little bright, I think I would of done a little weathering over them, but that is just me. Would be perfect for it first invasion striped mission though. Thanks for sharing, very inspirational. Kevin

Hi Kevin, thanks for the kind comments. The stripes are weathered more than the photos show. I was lucky enough to see one of these in person at the WWII Weekend in Reading Pennsylvania, these things are huge. Wingman out.

Hi Damian. Thanks. I got the idea from the inside cover of a book that I have. Turns out the stone wall is actually not a wall but a flat section of stones. There is a lot more "stuff" laying around in the actual photo. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

When the plane is perfect then the attention shifts to other things The photography is excellent! This dark background gives a nery nice effect.

Wow, thanks Drabslab. If anyone is interested, I used a Nikon D300 on a tripod with two Nikon flashes shooting through each of their own umbrellas. Thanks again to Jessie for seeting this feature up. Wingman out.
