Consolidated Aircraft equipped the big B-24 Liberator with an autopilot. It is quite a mechanism!

This example is on display at the Hoosier Air Museum at Auburn, Indiana's airport.

Very interesting piece of equipment Fred, thanks for posting. I'm wondering why it's called an "auto"-pilot when it looks like it would take 3 good men to operate it ?!?
