Lockheed P-38H-5 Lightning

The P-38 has always been a favourite of mine, but, for some unknown reason I used to close the box as soon as I did open it, and the trick did last for at least 12 years! So I decided to cross the path and here you have pics of the cockpit during WIP. I used the long OOP Teknic one, and it was very very good! See by yourself! The second improvement was to rivet the whole plane to add relief on a bare plastic as I wanted to simulate the heavy chipping one may see at the wing roots and beyond on the P-38 in the Pacific. So here we have the plane of capt. Daniel T Roberts, CO of the 433rd FS/475th FG, based at Dobodura in November 43; you will notice that I did forget to remove the Maskol from the front leg of the UC as I wanted to preserve the "shine" of the aluminium tube I used to replace the plastic part. Eduard photo etch did improve the wheels bays and Ultracast wheels show their great quality. Weathering the aircraft was pure happiness, I guess the pics speak for themselves.
