This is the size difference for the horizontal stabilizer struts. I'll probably just replace the strut with the short shot instead of trying to extend it. Also trying to get the stabilizers to fit the fuselage and the engine into the engine compartment. Getting close on those.

I'm tempted to put the decals on before putting the fuselage halves together. Since I'm painting the aircraft by hand, I won't have to worry about overspray if I need to smooth the fuselage joint out.

Neat work Jesper. Most of those Marine birds were flying off of crushed coral runways. It was kind of like sandblasting the surfaces on every takeoff and landing. Of course they were beaten up.

wow! Very cool picture! Clearly it is difficult to overdo the weathering on these birds!

Thanks for sharing and for the insights.

Went into my stash to look for something to build in between my other campaign builds and decided on a Stuka. Then loaded into the new posts section and saw thread at the top. So how about this:

Nice choice, Shell! ½ meter of Stuka. I am sure that will look impressive when finished.

Hi all,

here are my first steps with my A-35 Vengeance.

Some Styren to fill the cockpit, not much is needed thanks to the resin !

It fits

A bit of scratch for the seatbelts

And begiing of paint work

It'll be longer for the interior green, Humbrol enamel, long long long time to dry .... i just put the first coat ...

cheers

Looking good, Nico!

I have stalled a bit on my build, but will get back to speed shortly.

Nice progress, Stephen. Looks like that masking is spot on despite being 1/72.

Michael, I say Yah. It fulfills the requirements. There is a clear "break" in the wings and a distinct bend.

So how have we got to 4 pages without the greatest, most iconic Bent-Wing-Bird of them all, the mighty F-4 Phantom?

Hopefully this kit meets the 50% rule. It's been sat in the garage gathering dust for at least 10, probably 15 years. It's been dusted off, and my current craving for finishing models off has brought it towards the top of the build pile.

The kit decals are pretty poor so I picked up the Xtradecal sheet for UK based USAF F=4's. Alas the decal sheet doesn't actually include the decals for the Euro1 scheme So Vietnam camo it is.

I got confused there for a second because you misspelled Ju-87 Stuka so badly. 😉 It almost seemed like you meant the Phantom was the most iconic bent-wing plane. Surely nobody would put forward such a incorrect claim. 😄😄

Gentlemen,

I'm very much afraid I must beg to differ:

Still have outer wings, landing gear, painting, etc. to do. 50% or less?

This pic is actually about a week old but I haven't taken a more recent set yet. I have actually sealed up the fuselage and am about to fill/sand the mating surfaces and ready the wings. I expect to be done before the deadline on this one.
