Pasi, your A4 is looking good and cannot wait to see her finished.

Peter, I have been quietly following your F4 progress since that a/c was my favorite while growing up in the 1960's.

I guess I need to get on the ball and start painting my A1.

Great Progress guys, its nice to see that atleast someone will finish the campaign on time, for I surely will not. Why did I only decided to do NMF ? Well, this is what happened. I had already settled on AM decals, not realising that neither Trumpeter, nor Xtradecal have included anything besides cupple most visible stencils. Thats surely not good for a NMF plane, so I had to scrumble to do something about it. I had used some 1/72 scale spare "random" stencils from the stash, but its not enough and I was also missing the prominent NO STEPs for the wings, so I had to order another set from KITS-WORLD which wasted one more week. I have also Ordered F-100 Units in Vietnam from Osprey - but this late in the game it only basically showed me what I have done wrong so far. Foer example the refuelling probe was supposed to be curved, not the the straight model and there are a LOT of stencils still missing. Oh well. On we go to the wash. Since I didnt want the surface to get too dark, I have applied the wash into every single rivet individually with a brush with 3 hairs /yes, realy/. And been doing this for the last 3 days. The pictures show the progress. Forward fuselage and right wing are done, the rest is not. Oh did I mention I have a coupple more MNF planes in the stash ?

@Pasi, A4 looks great!

@Peter, good luck with stencils, I have never seen as many stencils as in the F4.

@Jacob, excellent paint job! are you using oils or enamels for the panel wash?

I haven't done much last week but I managed to finish the landing gear.

Nice work on the home stretch everyone! Jacob, I think you can still make it.

I'm hoping I will get there as well. Here's where I got on the Hasegawa 1/48 A-4C this weekend. Ya gotta believe!

Great work everyone, good luck in the last few weeks!

I'm done. Model is full of mistakes (I'm afraid of looking too closely now) but I have learnt a lot and, hopefully, next model will be much better.

My personal highlight is that I have found an acrylic gloss coat that I like, Vallejo Metal color gloss varnish, but I only used on the ordnance. Next time.

See you in the next campaigns!

Carlos.

Chipping is complete

Ki43_III-5

Ki43_III-6

My photo source show a very worned plane.

To obtain this effect i've sprayed 2 layers of AK worn effect and after a couple hour of drying time i've sprayed along the structure lines a coat of Tamiya XF-62. After a short time, armed with a lot of brush of different size and a cup of distilled water, i've work on the chipping. I'm not totally satisfied but for a first try i've make a very nice worned plane.

(Sorry again for the dusty sensor. it's really difficult to found an professional technician able to remove the dust.)

Hi all,
I always mistake F-5A and NF-5A version when assembling on this kit. Now, ready to paint.

I could continue fixing faults in paint job and tone down weathering, but I think it's time to call this done:

I'm not entirely pleased with the result, but those high visibility markings

Two more photos are in gallery.

Thanks for the campaign.

Nice job Pasi. Your A4 looks really good.

Mr.K, I like how your F5 is taking shape.

Mark, it does look like a Huey.

I'm hoping to get 2 built, one in Army markings and a second one in Naval markings. I was going to use ANA 613 Olive Drab instead of the FS version, to make it look more sun faded and then do the Navy one in FS for a fresher appearance to indicate that it might have been repainted when it was turned over. Not sure the ANA color really 'worked'.

Finished the decals this weekend, now some minor paint touch ups(must paint over the red strip on the fuselage...) and end control
Missiles and droptanks are still to be mounted, afterwards varnishing to take away the gloss
Cheers Peter

I'm about where Peter is (give or take) with my Hasegawa 1/48 A-4C. Decals and gloss/dull coats on, still have the pylons and bombs/tanks to hang and final details such as lights, landing gear, etc.

I don't know, all. I might not make it by July 1. Is it time to think about a small extension?

Probably I won't need an extension(fingers crossed...)for myself, but the more finished models in the gallery the better!
