Hi Joel - Hellcat looks great ! It may seem a small thing but I love the dark gray chalk idea for tire wear . Looking forward to seeing it at Noreastcon - didn't realize Mosquitocon was in April as well - I've been sort of asleep at the wheel. I am definitely going to Noreastcon but hope to make both . What are you building next ?

Excellent build Joel. You got just the right tonal variation in the paint job, and it looks very pleasing to the eye. I am sure it will be competitive in the contest.

Wow, a good looking non-Japanese Aircraft As usual, it was great having you along for the ride. I'm glade that you like the way it came out. And yes, the light gray tire tread really kicks it up a notch for carrier born aircraft.

You better be coming to both events especially since I couldn't make them last year due to eye surgeries. The Mosquitocon , which is on your side of the GW bridge is 4/7, and the Noreastcon which is on my side is 4/27-28. Everything will be on the 27th so I'm only planning on a one day deal.

Been trying to get in touch with Brian, but so far no luck

As for my next build, I've got it down to either the Eduard Limited Edition 1/48 scale F-86F (Hasegawa mold), or the Eduard Spitfire Mk VIII. Going to start one of them this afternoon.

I had to take a double look to figure out that you changed your avatar.

Yep the money shots plus 1. I really enjoyed the entire build except for that pesky rudder antenna. the camo paint scheme for a change I nailed. Maybe I should retire now . Just kidding, as I'm going to be doing that from work 2/3. Well, I did promise then I'd work 2 days per week till june.

Thank you my friend for those most kind words. As I just said to Terri, it's the overall best paint camo paint USN scheme to date. Wonders never cease to amaze me.

Not so sure how it will fare at the contests, but I'm not getting back onto the contest trail again for wins, I'm doing it so that I can match up my work level and standards to the best builders in my area. it's the only way for me to force myself to leave my comfort zones and kick it up a few notches.

That Hellcat really turned out great after all the work you've had with it in the beginning. The finish looks well done and the weathering - even for my taste - isn't overdone.

Thanks so much for those most kind and appreciative words. I'm nearly speechless at your comment that my weathering isn't overdone to your impeccable museum standards. I do think about how much weathering I can do that's acceptable to yours and my brothers spit polish Museum type finishes, as I'm more in the camp of operational yet well maintained aircraft.

Thank you my friend for those very kind words, it's much appreciated.

As for what's next on the bench. I just started the Eduard/Hasegawa 1/48 scale F-86F, but my heart's still in props and I keep on looking at the Airfix 1/48 scaler Hurricane Mk 1, so I switched gears and I'm starting the kit today.

If I had any constructive criticism I would say that the prop looks quite factory fresh in comparison to the rest of the model.
And that's nit-picking on the finest level !

Thanks for those most kind words. And you're 100% right about the prop looking way to new. I just can't seem to get one weathered right, so I tend to just do a little Aluminum dry brushing, promising myself that I'll go back and finish it, but never Do. But this time I really need to as I'm sure that the judges will hold that against the entire build.
