Hi all

As you may have seen in the News – I’ve decided to step down as Editor-In-Chief.

It was a day I both dreaded and looked forward to! After all, you can’t spend 10 years of your life working with such a great team of volunteers and site members and not feel a twinge of regret at stepping back. But, equally, I must admit I’m really chuffed to have the chance to duck out of the firing line and get back to some actual modelling without feeling guilty if I don’t devote any spare time I have to Aeroscale!

To be honest, I’ve got to pinch myself that it’s 10 years at all! It seems like only yesterday that we got started, and I only ever expected to be holding the reins briefly while Bryan Dewberry – who deserves all the real credit for building up the aircraft modelling side of the original Armorama – took a break. Back in those days, we were a sub-forum on the armour site – and now we rank among the top aircraft modelling sites and have a following that includes some of the finest aircraft modellers in the world.

But multiple distractions outside Aeroscale lately (some really great(!) – and some definitely not so good) have meant that I simply haven’t been able to devote the time to the site that I once could and that it needs. So, I apologise to you all for that – but, I’ve also got to say that I’m really excited at the prospect of Aeroscale in new hands! I can’t wait to see how it develops and where it goes!

So, what does the future hold for me? Well, before anyone gets too excited, you haven’t totally got rid of me yet! LOL! I’ll still be busy behind the scenes as a Senior Editor whenever I get the chance – and inevitably, still reviewing now and again - but, hopefully, shifting steadily towards builds instead of endless in-boxes.

Anyway, thank you all for your support during Aeroscale’s first decade – and here’s looking forward to even greater things with Kevin at the helm!

All the best as ever

Rowan

Congratulations on your ten years tenure at Aeroscale Rowan.
Kitmaker and especially Aeroscale has become my one stop shop for all things modelling and you can be proud of many aspects of the place i'm sure not least of which is the fantastic sense of community around the place.

Very much looking forward to seeing more of your work and less of your reviews

Cheers Paul

I'll be the first to agree that we have a fantastic bunch of people in our membership. That sense of community dates right back to the earliest days with Bryan when we were a part of the original Armorama, and it was the primary reason I joined Kitmaker after being totally turned off modelling on the Internet by the attitude I found on some other sites.

All the best

Rowan

We'll miss you Rowan! And don't kid yourself, your leadership here has been instrumental in making AeroScale the fantastic site it is today. You've done a great job and we hope to see more of your work on your terms for a change!
