here is the tailwheel dolly ready for primer - I've ordered the Archer resin rivet sampler in hopes something will work on the corner angle reinforcement on the box -



And a shot of it in use - it will not be in place under the aircraft in the diorama but somewhere aside -

Thank you Joel and Rowan - dolly is now in primer and the Archer resin rivets are on their way to me so we'll see some color on it soon enough I hope.
Made 20 bamboo stalks tonight with their rolled nodes . I'm happy with the bamboo plants ( trees ? ) themselves but I am still not sure of it from a composition standpoint. We'll see - Richard

At this point I'm bringing my 1/48 scale F6F-3, 1/32 scale AF-E Scooter, and maybe my Mossie, but up close and personal it does have it's issues.

Great to hear! I expect they'll work great, Ive used archer's armor casting codes sheet and found them a breeze to use with very nice results. Its been quite a while since I visited archers website, they have a few nice aircraft details.

Joel - The Archer rivets are great - they represent raised round head rivets so of course they are of no use as flush rivets as used on many aircraft - they come in a variety of diameters , spacings and patterns . The ones you see here are .008 " diameter and are the smallest offered ,I believe .

Archer Product # AR88001 - sample pack. $17.95 plus shipping for an approx 3" x 4" sheet - pricey to some I suppose but they will go far and worth every penny IMHO.

Here they are in place before over painting -

The base is ready for groundwork - I have decided against the bamboo thicket idea. While I was happy enough with the trees themselves they just didn't work for me from the composition standpoint . The base began to look crowded and cluttered and lost the airfield feel for me but I have a future project in mind where they may be useful.

Those Archer rivets look like they were molded on. They're that good. So next time I need some rivets, I'm going to try them. The Sampler package sounds like the right way to go for the 1st time.

Closing in on it -

Here is the final arrangement - some static grass - warning stripe- finishing up the Hayabusa - Canopy, pitot , gear doors ,mast & antennae wire & some odds & ends . I can see light at the end of the tunnel .

Wow!! both in the scope and the detail of your diorama. You certainly have taken this to a whole new level from your original build concept.

I keep on having mixed feelings about the rear wheel dolly, and seeing it just to the side. Honestly, if you didn't tell me what its purpose was, I might have assumed correctly, or I might have thought it was just some cart used for aircraft maintenance. If I thought that, then other viewers just might think that as well. So why not show it for what it is, a dolly for the rear wheel?
