Mr. K, judging from your photos, that Tu-2 looks fantastic! Congrats on that! It was worth waiting for it!

Mike, same to you, that Yak 3 looks great! I have the same kit waiting in my stash somewhere. Meanwhile I've got a good taste to build some more "Red Stars" and my next one will be a Hurricane ....

Michael, thanks for running this lovely campaign and the ribbon. To me it made me build the kit with the most parts I've ever had in one build, the beautiful Peshka.

And congrats to all who have finished this campaign successfully!

In under the wire Mike, nice work!

Well, time to wrap this one up folks. Congrats to all who finished, and to those who didn't get the chance to participate this time, fear not. The Eastern Front campaign as part of the 75th Anniversary of WWII series is coming sooner or later!

Ribbons have been distributed. Let me know if you didn't get one and think you should. Thanks to all for a fun campaign!

Hi,
Maybe I'm the last one today. I finished my bird.

It takes so much time to finish it because of the poor quality of this kit.

Apologize about your waiting. Thank you all.
Regards,
K.

Michael, apologies for not posting as I went along
Thanks you for running yet another great campaign.

For this campaign I chose this kit. I was short on money so found this for 2.99.

Once i opened the box I realised why it was so cheap.

Poorly moulded
Poor fit
Poor instructions
I guess you get what you pay for.

It was a challenge for my basic modelling skills.

This was it in production

This is it finished.

Still finding my feet with weathering etc.

Thanks again

Nice Shturmovik Ryan! Your finishing methods brought out the surface details beautifully!

My yak build has been a bit of a rollercoaster this last week but not so much of kit or build ossues, just my work schedule changing 3 times. This final change sends me back home for the weekend... to finish my build

Its coming along well, I'm stoked! My scratch built gunsight is a bit over scale and I may replace down the road but for now it stays.

After I attached the front and rear canopies I gave it an acrylic sludge wash. While this worked well it didnt stay put in all the places I hoped, namely the wing fuel fill points. Eduards surface detailing of these is a bit overstated so I filled them partially with CA along with the funky fuel gauge detail. As these didnt retain the wash and my time for washes waning I masked off the details and hit it with some tamiya smoke
just what I wanted, noticeable but easily over looked.

Onward and upward!

Ok,finished. I will likely add an antenna wire and weather it sometime, but it's now done enough for the shelf and for the campaign. Great kit to build! Thanks again for the extension Michael.

Just what and how much did they Modify the airframe Torsten? Would it be a difficult task to scratch build the changes? Not really sure what's involved with the modifications so not sure just how much and what scratch building is required.

UM models do a 1/72 scale kit of it Torsten and Kora models make a 1/72 scale conversion kit for it. From what I've read they were modified for long range reconnaissance (as the motors couldn't handle the dive bombing role they envisaged) so the state aircraft factory when they overhauled them probably added cameras and housings to the airframe.

Maybe Zevezda could at some stage produce the Finnish version?? Or some one more talented than I could make resin conversions for it?

And I would love to build a Peschka in Finnish markings, Chris. But those guys modified the "borrowed" planes and there is no kit on the market, which offers these modifications. I would eat my hat, if Zvezda would bring it out ....

Thanks Torsten! I would've done it Finnish Airforce markings as they're quite colourful but that wouldn't have fit with the campaign! I do plan on building another couple of Chaika's in Luftwaffe and Finnish markings.

Franck, nice and colourful Lavotchkin. Years ago I have built the Academy La-7 in the markings of Ivan Kozhedub.
Btw., I see, you're from Alsace, so do you go to the CMS expo in Mundolsheim in June? I'll be there with some of my models. I'm from Karlsruhe. Maybe we can meet there?

Chris, that's a lovely Chaika in an unusual painting. Like it! Congrats to both of you for finishing the campaign!

OK, does everyone think a two week extension will do the job?

Michael

It's a good idea.
I want some days to finish my Russian bird. Using a lot of putty to fill the gaps.

Mike and Michael, thank you for your encouragement.
Regards,
K.

Michael, Mike my thanks guys! I've always been intrigued by the use of biplanes in the era of the monoplane. And I've especially liked the Chaika ever since the Alpine Fighter Collection restored one and a couple of I-16's. While the kit has it's shape issues it doesn't really detract from the overall kit in my humble opinion. I'm not and never will be a rivet counter I work to be as accurate as I can be with what I have. I've also just seen the Silver Wings 1/32nd scale Chaika but I simply don't have the budget to purchase one but we can dream eh?

Whilst I don't require the extension it might provide an opportunity to let some of our brethren finish their builds and add a few more models to the gallery.

Any chance on an extension for a week or two? I'm almost finished but I haven't had a chance to work on it lately. I've been fighting a nasty cold and I don't model in bed.

Sorry you're sick Ryan. I could be open to this. Anyone else?

Michael
