Thanks Torsten!

Sorry about the decals Ryan, but nice save!

I'm going to stick a fork in this one and call it done. The 1/32 Special Hobby P-39Q in the markings of Maj. Gregori Rechkalov, the highest scoring P-39 ace. Not a bad kit for a limited run. Not Tamigawa, but I'm happy with it.

I'll post some more pics in the campaign gallery. Keep up the good work here!

She'll be coming round the mountain when she comes ohhhh she'll be coming round the mountain when she comes....

Got the camo paint on my eduard yak-3. The aeromaster acrylic Russian dark gray II fortunately turned out much darker than I thought it might be, I almost darkened it. I intentionally applied it a bit blotchy since that's the impression I get from period photos. Some minor touch ups are in order but Im pretty happy with how it turning out
Next up will be the red nose and then I can start attaching all the loose ends, which there seems an unending pile of

I've finished my LA-7.

I'm not happy about the landing gear fit. He give me cold sweat. But i'm very satisfied with the camo and the decal work.

Howdy Y'all
@Franck-great model! Congratulations on finishing your first campaign. Are you hooked on campaigns yet? You've done a great job on the Eduard kit, like your camouflage job.
@Michael-I don't think I'll get to finish my I-16 for this campaign.
I'll move on to the Flying Boats campaign and work on my P5M Marlin.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

Franck: Very nicely done!

Mr. K and Mike: You can do it!

Don: Sorry you're not going to get there this time, but I know you'll do a great job on the Marlin.

Only a few more days, everyone. Get cracking!

Got home from work and about to head back into paint for some touch ups and some accelerated drying and hopefully some clearcoat action sometime before I head out tomorrow morning.

...uggh I just realized I havent even given a thought to the pitot tube yet. Guess I'll have to get my scratch building hat back on.

Okay guys got her finished .... just. I quite enjoyed this kit it went together really well and aside form the shape and structure issues identified I think this is a great replica. I chose this scheme as it had a little bit of colour and was different from the usual Russian cam fare.

Any chance on an extension for a week or two? I'm almost finished but I haven't had a chance to work on it lately. I've been fighting a nasty cold and I don't model in bed.

Michael, Mike my thanks guys! I've always been intrigued by the use of biplanes in the era of the monoplane. And I've especially liked the Chaika ever since the Alpine Fighter Collection restored one and a couple of I-16's. While the kit has it's shape issues it doesn't really detract from the overall kit in my humble opinion. I'm not and never will be a rivet counter I work to be as accurate as I can be with what I have. I've also just seen the Silver Wings 1/32nd scale Chaika but I simply don't have the budget to purchase one but we can dream eh?

Whilst I don't require the extension it might provide an opportunity to let some of our brethren finish their builds and add a few more models to the gallery.

If there is an extension granted Ill be taking full advantage! If not, the show will go on

Got my gloss coat curing in my heat box overnight and I hope to have the decals on and coated again tomorrow.

OK, does everyone think a two week extension will do the job?

It's a good idea.
I want some days to finish my Russian bird. Using a lot of putty to fill the gaps.

Mike and Michael, thank you for your encouragement.

K.

Franck, nice and colourful Lavotchkin. Years ago I have built the Academy La-7 in the markings of Ivan Kozhedub.
Btw., I see, you're from Alsace, so do you go to the CMS expo in Mundolsheim in June? I'll be there with some of my models. I'm from Karlsruhe. Maybe we can meet there?

Chris, that's a lovely Chaika in an unusual painting. Like it! Congrats to both of you for finishing the campaign!

Thanks Torsten! I would've done it Finnish Airforce markings as they're quite colourful but that wouldn't have fit with the campaign! I do plan on building another couple of Chaika's in Luftwaffe and Finnish markings.

And I would love to build a Peschka in Finnish markings, Chris. But those guys modified the "borrowed" planes and there is no kit on the market, which offers these modifications. I would eat my hat, if Zvezda would bring it out ....

Just what and how much did they Modify the airframe Torsten? Would it be a difficult task to scratch build the changes? Not really sure what's involved with the modifications so not sure just how much and what scratch building is required.

UM models do a 1/72 scale kit of it Torsten and Kora models make a 1/72 scale conversion kit for it. From what I've read they were modified for long range reconnaissance (as the motors couldn't handle the dive bombing role they envisaged) so the state aircraft factory when they overhauled them probably added cameras and housings to the airframe.

Maybe Zevezda could at some stage produce the Finnish version?? Or some one more talented than I could make resin conversions for it?

Ok,finished. I will likely add an antenna wire and weather it sometime, but it's now done enough for the shelf and for the campaign. Great kit to build! Thanks again for the extension Michael.
