Ok, another build to drop on the bench in amongst the mess! Why do you guys keep coming up with such good ideas for Group Builds?

Michael, I think we need to add a new rule, to qualify for a ribbon you need to come up with a pun, a play on the 4.

To that end, I look 4ward to the 4thcoming 6 months and watching all of these builds progress. I will endeavour to 4mulate a plan to manage my time and complete my build within the 4mal time frame.

Model on folks!

Cheers, D.

Whew! Just made the starting gun! I'll be doing Tamiya's KI-84 with a little scratched stuff to help it out.

Frankly I'm looking 4ward to it!

Here's my entry for this campaign. Gonna build it OOB for the most part though I won't be starting until later this month due to work commitments.

And so it begins, more styrene piled on the bench!

This one got me thinking back over my Modeling history. My very first build back in the early '70s was an Airfix 1/72 Stirling complete with tractor and bomb carts. It was molded in black plastic and I don't think I even bothered to paint it. It was put straight into active service bombing my Hotwheels cars, and probably the cat. I haven't built a 4-engined aircraft since then. I've done a few twins, and an Italian Tri-motor, but the big quad heavies for some reason disappeared off my radar.
I'm really looking forward to this build, and this Campaign, there is already a great variety of subjects in the mix and I'm sure plenty more to come.

Time to get com4table at the bench and get amongst it.

Cheers, D

Damian, really looking 4ward to seeing your Privateer built. I'm a huge fan of these old Matchbox kits and maritime patrol aircraft. I have the same Revell reissue I keep meaning to build, but other things keep landing on my work desk.

Thanks Stephen, good to have you along 4 the ride.
In my usual fashion I have completely ignored the instruction sequence and started with putting together a few of the sub assemblies. There will be a bit of filling and sanding to be done, but nothing major at this stage. I think the area that will need the most work on these assemblies is the horizontal stabilisers. The outer ends and the trailing edges need to be thinned down a bit and no doubt a bit of lost detail will need to be redone. The panel lines are a mix of raised and engraved, and the profile of the control surfaces is quite nicely done.

Glad to see such a 4tunate start to this campaign!

I see there are already a few pieces of armor "Sign"ed (see what I did there D?) up 4 this one, so I may switch my build from an "M" to an "F". Ah, but which one?

Making some progress. Did a little work last night and am tracking along today. I forgot how aggravating this little contraption was, probably why there are none in the stash only the Dragon 1/72 offerings hiding out there. I’ve cut back my expectations to essentially an OOB for the kit. It is taking some serious clamping – fingers in pain at moment- with copious amounts of super glue and liquid cement to convince the one side to remain attached to the lower hull plate. Giving fingers a little rest before attaching the other hull side.

Hey everybody! Great selection of models in the thread so far. My entry will be an old favorite....the Revell/Monogram 1/48th Scale F-4D Phantom. I still love Monogram's 48th scale jet kits to this day. I plan to use Hi-Decals to depict an F-4D in the unique USAF "Cloud Scheme" which was based in Texas in the '80's. Anyway, looking forward to it.

Best wishes,

Ian

The hull is mostly together. Even painted the forward area given there are couple holes in the rear bulkhead that may attract curious eyes. I used Perfect Plastic Putty to clean up the gaps in the cargo area. That stuff is awesome! Beats attempting to get a sanding stick into that tiny hold. Next will be mounting the cab and side walls. I have extra water troughs from Dragon LVT kits that I plan to sand down to fit to the rear of this kit since Airfix/MPC didn’t see it necessary to include this detail.

@ Daniel: you work fast and love the amphibs in the back ground also.

@ Ian: I also like Monogram kits for most genre, cut my teeth on them.

Thanks, yep AmTracs are my thing, several built and many in the stash.

Got the cab on tonight. Again, lots of pressure with generous doses of super glue and liquid cement.
Decision made. This will be the last Airfix/MPC LVT4 with which I torture myself. I am looking forward to the painting stage. That's where I plan to have a little fun.

My kit for the campaign. Still undecided on the marking, most likely an aircraft from JG 3, 'Udet'

Hi Everybody
Decided to join up with the HobbyCraft CF-100 Mk.4 Canuck

Haven't decided if I'm going to do a bare metal scheme or a camouflage pattern paint job yet

I'm changing the heading of my entry. I couldn't find any pictures/documentation of Corsairs from CV-14 USS Ticonderoga, seems like the CV-14 fighter squadrons had Hellcats. So now it will be: F(4)ord BNO-40 with tail section from USN fighter squadron VF-114 F4U-4, Korea 51/52, based on CV-47 (USS Philippine Sea) in honor of my home country. I'm also working on a different dio. Different version of the same concept, inspired by these two photos: the front half of the same #32 from the first photo, & this one: notice the mismatched national insignia? I might duplicate that Happy modeling everybody

Some great progress and some very interesting and diverse subject matter already, great work all!

My mission for this evening (should I choose to accept it), sub assemblies, sanding sticks (in need of replacement) flexible sanding pads, scriber, Flex-I-File, and a six-pack of cloudy apple cider.

Cheers, D
