Kitty Hawk has announced the impending release of two new Little Birds in 1/35th. The first is an AH-6J which will be followed up by the MH-6J. These kits will have complete interiors and engine compartments. The CAD has been developed from actual -10s, the operator's manual for those not in the US Army, real aircraft and first hand accounts.

The AH-6J will include two M-134s, two M-260 seven shot FFAR pods, an optional GAU-19 gun, and MFDs in the cockpit.

The MH-6J will have the common type of operator bench along with the early FRIES system.

If these sell well there will be more helicopters in this scale. Kitty Hawk is already working on at least four other helicopters, many on your short lists. It is going to be good to be a helicopter modeler.

I like the look of this and could really go for one. I have always wanted to get into helicopters but never took the leap.

Can't wait for this one. Wonder how long before it hits the shelves. Being CAD it could be some time.

Probably some time in September. My hope is to have a first pop at the Nats, but we'll see.

Shame, I'll just have to buy one to support the habit, I mean company, to see what else they bring out... Ah 64? Osprey anyone? Super Stallion?! UH 1Y. IDF versions...

thank you,

Kylie

If you listen closely, you can hear the ebay prices on the DML kit falling from the ridiculous to the merely inflated...

Looking forward to one of these, great scale for the little bird.

Still waiting for Kitty Hawk to release that SH-2G that was supposed to be out in Nov 15, so I won't hold my breath.

Boxart for the AH-6J is out. Hopefully it will be available soon.

I've pm'ed the company on the two email addresses posted on their website (which has not been updated in a looong time) and I asked when it would be released. That was on Sunday March 12th.

So far, no answer. I'll post here if they do answer me, which I doubt a lot because they never answered my last fall request for the same answer.

I talked with one of their reps at the Old Dominion model show in Feb in Richmond. He said the AH/MH-6s should be out by the middle of the year and the UH-1H by the end of the year. We shall see.

Good informations to know Gino. I really like the last phrase you wrote and that I put in bold

This is just begging for a diorama in combination with a few AFV!

Apparently the kit (now a combo kit) is available in Asia. It should be hitting our shores soon.

From what I read somewhere, it seems that you can build one of two different version with one box.

Right, that is what I meant by a "combo kit". It builds into either an AH-6J gunship or an MH-6J troop carrier.

Forgot these:

They were posted in the News post about the new kit on 22 Oct. It is a couple posts down.
