Hello Campaigners,
My build will be the Ki-44 flown by Warrant Officer Makato Ogawa of the 70th Sentai in 1945.
The kit is by ARII and is a few years old. Here is the box and sprue shot:

Best Wishes,

Hi Oliver,
Thank you! I love the Komet! So much daring and innovation. Desperation turned into aviation art. The world's only combat-tested rocket fighter. Can't wait to see your representation.

Made a start on my Great Wall Hobbies 1/48 P61 Last Shoot Down 1945 yesterday. So far only have the base interior colour sprayed think this will certainly keep me busy especially as I might only be able to get near the bench for a few hours at a weekend

Sam and Chris, some nice kits You got there.

I started my work on the "Kraftei". First,I glued some etched parts into the cockpit and added some wiring to the control stick. Than, cockpit parts were painted and washed.

Next will be some more colour to the cockpit and the instrument panel.

Very nice work so far everyone!

I've shifted builds a bit. I'm doing the Hasegawa J2M3 for the Thunder and Lightning campaign and am thinking I might stick with the Thunderbolt theme and do one for this campaign as well:

We'll see, lots to clear out first, but that's my idea at the moment.

Another big scale plane, Michael? I envy you for the display space you must have. Cool plane, though.

I admire your gusto and look forward to your build.
Take care,

All,

Further consideration has led me to the conclusion that there is no way I'm gonna get a 1/32 P-47N done for this one. Sorry.

So, downsizing a bit, I'm looking at a 1/48 Tamiya F4U; either Hampton Gray's 1841 Sqn. Corsair IV or Alfred Lerch's VF-10 -1D. Lerch shot down 7 kamikazes in one mission 16/4/45 while Gray was awarded the VC for carrying on a bomb run while his plane was on fire 9/8/45. Anyone care to weigh in on which one?

Hi everyone,
Getting close to the finish line. Got her foiled up and coated with Testors glosskote.

For a change, I took the pictures outside with a storm rolling in. Unfortunately I couldn't get any lightning.

My first two constructions with foil showed that it was easy to roll up the foil edges around the landing gear wells by mistake. So, I'll leave the excess until I put the gear on.

All the Best,

Gary

Gary,

You are really an expert with the foiling method. The plane looks really great. I like it much and my desire to try this method too, becomes stronger and stronger!

Hi Oliver,
Thank you very much. This is only my third plane with foil, and I am still learning and experimenting. Each aircraft presents it's own unique situations and difficulties to overcome. So I still feel that I have much to learn.

Best Wishes,

Gary

Wings are on! Doing work on the open cockpit restraint, the cockpit armour glass fillets, the drop tank and it's mount. Moving forward in little steps.

Hello Campaigners,
I've finished with my Ki-44 Shoki.

This is the aircraft of Warrant Officer Makato Ogawa sometime in 1945. He was to shoot down a total of seven B-29's before the war's end by making precision attacks on the cockpit area. He would also down two P-51's.

Some photos uploaded to the 1945 Gallery and more photos can be found here:

Cheers,

Gary
