Still haven't decided which kit to build for my entry. Waiting for the old Esci 1/24 Ferrari SWB, and already got Tamiya Honda NSX and two 1/12 racing cars. May do more than one for the campaign.

This will be my entry:-



I think I will paint the D-Day strips.

I am going to paint a couple of 1/16th scale mini-art mounted figured as a diorama.

They are both plastic kits, but heavily converted to show the last few seconds before the Duchy or Warsaw Cuirassier trumpeter sounds the charge from the officers command,
and also because the horses are all in the same pose.

I will put up some photos this week.

I probably watched that car race at Silverstone or Brands Hatch back in the early 70's

I definitely saw the M23 race, but I remember it best in the Texaco Marlboro colours. I started getting interested in GP racing (as it was then) when we still had a black'n'white TV! Jim Clark, Graham Hill etc.
The M23s best known drivers were of course Emerson Fittipaldi, Jody Scheckter and James Hunt.

Hey Brett,
So nice to see a railway model.
I notice you have a 'Biggin Hill' Loco on the bench.

I used to avidly devour the Airfix catalogue as a kid for hours every summer holiday, the railway loco paintings really fascinated me, although railways never floated my boat, I always intended to make one.

I never bought one until last year, 40 years later, but I now have a School Class loco 'Harrow', and a 'City of Truro' to make once I've got all the brass bits I need.

Great stuff I look forward to seeing yours finished

Tyre logos 00 sable + Tamiya white
Lower body Tamiya white and orange straight from the bottle
Seat belts are a darned sight easier in 1/12!

So many choices for this one.. I might use my PZL 37 Los bomber for this campaign, once it arrives in the mail.

Well, here's my entry. I found I've got some time on my hands waiting for a part to arrive. No sense in letting good bench time go to waste. Strictly OOB and am planning a 3 colour scheme to give the Ammo of Mig mini set a good test. Let's see how far I get in 6 hours.

Paul, thanks, the Airfix Presflo wagon will be fun. The decals are very old and brittle. I may have to modify the paint and go with a earlier BR Bauxite rather than the 1959 yellow. At any rate I'll have to cobble up some transfers from my scrap box.

The 'Biggin Hill' is considerably a newer pressing and the transfers look usable. You may check out my progress at the Airfix III Campaign.

Thanks Richard. Almost 6 hours later, the hull and turret are mostly together with some primer checking and filler action going on. I also managed to get the idlers and sprockets done. Running into some fit issues and a few gaps, nothing a semi seasoned modeler can't handle though. Dry fit everything, good advice no matter what genre/scale you build. The plastic is on the hard and waxy side, not a plus in my books, it makes clean up a little more difficult. Not much in the way of flash or mold seams so far. Tomorrow I'll continue with gaps and start on the running gear.

I'm in the same campaign but not posted anything yet !
On the same tack I have some airfix decals for their multipose infantry and are badly Yellowed. If I put them in sunlight, is it true they whiten again, or are they unusable now

The running gear is now more or less complete, complex little beggars. Just need to glue them together and insert the pins for the road wheels which are the later version as opposed to the all rubber ones in earlier releases. They will fully articulate if assembled properly, clean up is actually the biggest pain, 4 sets of what you see in the pic are needed. The turret got filled, primed and sanded down as needed. Some nasty gaps as can be seen in the previous pictures. Speaking of nasty gaps, I realized the stiffening rods on the idlers are short. I ended up running some thinned Gator's Grip into the gaps and I'll build up with primer. An easier option might be to cut off the kit parts, drill new holes and insert proper lengths of rod. Despite the fiddling, this is progressing nicely, so naturally I got word that the replacement part I'm waiting on is in the mail and I will be dropping this when that arrives so I can get a review build done and painted. I should have a few hours on Friday to continue, maybe I'll start on the tracks.

They ought to lighten, Paul. Put them in a ziplock bag (to protect them from moisture) and tape them to the inside of a south-facing window. In a week or three they'll be nicely bleached.

Kimmo, after veiwing your build I think that I will change my entry to an armor kit. I will look at the stash tonight to see what is available.
