Thankyou Michael, and welcome Dave and Richard

In fact, welcome one and all.

Here is my entry, the Hasegawa 1/48 F-2B. I have the prototype XF-2B boxing, but the only change is the difference is one aerial, and the nose pitot.

I am using the decals kindly supplied by an old friend (before he cleared off to the other side of the world!) to build this rather splendid looking plane

I'm stepping back a few years from that delightful looking F-2. Mine is the civil version Mavis flying boat, as used by Japan Air Lines

The markings options are natural metal with red hull bottom, or natural metal with red hull bottom. Big choice there.

Jessie, nice looking kit you have there even if it is in 1/144 a scale that I can neither see or hold. I will bee following your progress. This is a good looking a/c.

Howdy Y'all
Here's my model for the campaign. I will be building one of these Ki-84 Franks. The other Frank will be saved for another campaign. I plan to use the True Details resin cockpit and Montex mask.

Within the next days I'll start this kit, which is already hard to get over here. It's a Ki-46 with 37 mm cannon during Homeland Defense and I'll build the version stated on the box art ....

Happy modelling and success to all your builds

Ok, it'll be one of these two, and will be pretty much OOB, unless there's something within my capabilities that I can tweak. I may try to scratch build a new seat - based on what I've seen others do, but as I say, it might be beyond me!! Hoping for lots of help and tips from anyone with Ki-84 experience!

Sorry, no F1 for me. I'm going to go old school on this one (if I actually get the chance to do it!)

I had no idea this thing has been around since 2011, I thought it was just yesterday! Time flies when you get to my age.

Michael, I am building the same kit I will be finishing it in the box top markings which I will be painting on, of course. If you would like a set of these masks then just ask and I will send them for just the postage

Hi there,
Time to start my Ki.43 Oscar.
The kit is the quarter scale Fine Molds, which I've rarely seen built. The kit seems nicely made, not that i compared to any scale plans, but it looks the real thing.
Noticed that there are a few differences between early, mid and late versions of this plane, some more obvious than others. Since I've virtually no sources besides the web, I hope that the mid version I wanna do avoids major mistakes

So, this is the box and it's contents plus a set of new wheels and a far better cockpit...made for Hasegawa's model! Hope that it fits without big issues

First thing (and only so far) done...remove all the inside molded details to ensure the best fit of the resin walls

The plastic is very thin so a few "holes" have appeared on the outside part

Cheers

Holdfast, I would love to get my hands on a set of these masks. Would you be willing to send a set to the US? I will gladly cover any postage!

Thanks -

Mal,

Thanks for the offer but I'm going to pass right now, the budget's pretty tight so I'll probably stick to the kit. I know your stuff is top-notch, so thanks again though!

No problem Michael, so I'll do them totally free But don't feel pressured into having them if you don't want to use them; it'll be interesting to see the difference

Hi Dave,
Well the offer was to Michael as he is building the same kit as me. If you are building the same kit in the same markings then I will extend the offer to you. If you are not then I can't justify sending a set. If you are not building the kit but still want a set of the masks then they are £13.75p, less the Kitmaker discount of 15% so £11.60p + postage?

Mal -

I am building the Tamiya 1/48 Raiden that was kitted in those markings. My kit is missing the decals, and I was struggling to put together markings of any sort to be able to finish it for the campaign.

I would love to try my hand at masking and painting them, but I had not realized that this was a commercial endeavor for you. I am new here, although I did manage to finish one campaign so far - the de Havilland campaign.

Please send me a private message, and we can discuss further.

Many thanks!

Well, this is my second day here on this site. So I might as well build something instead of just showing pictures of what I have already built.

My first campaign will be building the Hasegawa 1/72 Ki-44 Tojo with a True Details cockpit.

This should be a pretty quick build, but I will try to get as many "in progress" photos as I can of it as I go.

OK, I managed to get some time in on this little creature. First I am putting just a little bit in the rear fuselage incase something can be seen through what will be a sort of open rear cockpit. As the Japanese didn't put in any wall, only bracing.

And then the resin cockpit floor. I think I am going to put the rudder pedal straps on, even though they will probably never be seen again.

And this is what they gave me for a seat. I don't really know what it was that they were looking at when someone designed it, but it has almost no resembelance to the real thing, so I came up with what you see.

I am really not that happy with it though, and will probably make another seat that is a bit closer to being proper size, and lightening holes in the right place, and number.

And these are the side walls with just a start to the painting. I will lighten them up quite a bit from here. And I think I will probably also replace the cockpit sidewall doors on both sides, as they are close, but not quite right also.

And here is the instrument panel with the fuselage guns. Again, it is not quite complete. So I have started on scratching the rest of it. There is one more short bit I need to get underneath the three guages to make it right.

And the engine about half way through it's whacking with the detail stick . The engine had the valve actuator rods molded on, but they looked very "soft". So I just cut the front of the engine bell off and flipped it around, and will do my own along with the spark plugs and wiring. But I will only run wires to the rear cylinders, as it will not be seen.

This is about half way through with the slow stuff (the engine and cockpit), and once this is done and the fuselage glued up, it will go a good deal faster I hope.

You're doing all this detail work in 1/72????????
