Almost there at last.

Just finished cleaning off the wash and touching up the paintwork.

Next job is the satin varnish and then it's just adding the last couple of bits and pieces and she's done.

Hi Nige

It is looking fantastic. The only bit that's bugging me is that nasty step/gap in front of the windscreen. I'm just itching for that to disappear.

Looking back in your thread, you recommended we should put aside £1 per week to save up for a Tamiya Mustang while you worked on this. I wish I'd followed your advice - I'd have a nice little pot of money with enough to buy a couple of these beauties without flinching. Doh!

All the best

Hi Rowan.

The windscreen isn't attached yet, it's just sitting there until I've satin varnished the airframe and then I'll fit the gunsights before I put it in place permanently.

Yeah, told you....£1 a week, but did you listen??? 😊😊

The last big job is done.
Got a few coats of matt varnish on today, which leaves just the fiddly bits and pieces to be attached, canopy masking removed etc and shes going be finished at last.
So, these are the last "in progress" photos, and the next post,(whenever that'll be) will be the finished model.

Sorry everyone,
But I'm not paying the Photobucket ransom.
If you click on any of the "images" it will open the picture on Photofuckit
Sadly, there's no way I'm able to go back through this thread and redo all the links.
I'll include in progress shots when I submit the finished build feature.

I've managed to download my photos from Photobucket and decided that I'm going to work my way through this thread and replace the links.
It'll take a while though

Yeah too right. What a royal pain in the butt. Hope PhotoPhuckit fall flat on their ar5e, they deserve it. Took me a couple of days before I was able to even access their website and then I managed to download all my photos.
All done though, and I've now updated and replaced all the photo links for this thread.
Perhaps now I can get on and finish the bloomin' model!

Wowza. Stunning.

If I can have the temerity to suggest an "improvement"... maybe a little silver pencil chipping on the leading edges and around the cockpit/wingwalk would help break up the paint color? Just something that occurs to me when I look at it.

No worries, I'm planning on doing some paint chipping/scratches when I finally get around the having some bench time and getting this finished up.
Work is hectic again and I've not managed to sit down and actually put the finishing touches to this.

Cracking job mate, love it!

Just imagine how good a P-51 would look if it was a bit bigger and had a radial. . . Oh, wait a minute 🤔

Yeah well if I ever get chance to sit down at the bench and finish the Mustang off then maybe I'll be able to get on with the 1:32 Trumpeter razorback!

Nigel, congratulations on finishing another great model. So, when will we see the feature now with a big photo gallery?
What's next then? Hmm...let me guess - a Thud?

Thank you 😊😊
I'll take some Mustang photos soon 😀

Next project?
The 1:32 Trumpeter razorback which I've recently started working on, and finishing this Tamiya razorback which has been an occasional project for a while now and is almost done.

Nice one Nige!

I won't be doing the honours anymore, but the new team should be over the moon to have a build like this on the Frontpage!

All the best

Rowan
