The He-111 was sold to the countries warily watching Germany's military buildup as an airliner. That being so, some of them actually had to put on sheep's clothing and pretend to be airliners. Deutsche Lufthanse was obligated to operate 6 He-111 Cs between 1936 and 1940.

In 1999, Toko annonced that they would produce a series of early stepped-nose He-111s and modellers rejoiced. Then Toko went out of business and modellers mourned their lost opportunity. When Toko's moulds were rescued by Roden, the rejoicing began anew...until the kits landed with a thud on our desks.

Jessica Cooper gingerly pries open the lid of the He-111 C passenger version and warily pokes at the sleeping plastic therein.

Before Meteor products went out of business I picked up one of their He 111 conversions. Forget actually which one though it comes with a leading edge resin bit. Some day I will build it. Built two of Revel's kits so far. My best to you and your desire to tackle such a projekt.

I built this model a while ago (http://www.kierat.de/modeling/he111/he111.htm) and can confirm the terrible fit. The tool I used most, were side cutting pliers.

It's a really beautiful aircraft, though - I wish somebody would offer a technologically updated kit of it, like happened with the He 70 recently.

I can only hope I get mine looking halfway as good as yours does. Which He-70 is that sitting beside it?

thanks :-) The He 70 is actually two of the Revell/Matchbox kits built into one ( http://www.kierat.de/modeling/he70/he70.htm )

Nice. I picked up the newish ICM kit not long ago with the idea of posing the two together.
