Nice... even just looing at the shots theres areas that leave the Eduard behind, of course other areas where the Eduard outdoes this...not to mention Trumpies.

General impression is very good, though theres some over heavy rivetting on the underwing rad housings and some areas ara a little simple. I had hoped for a little better detail on those wheelbay canvasses. The oleo gaiters are a nice touch though. At least the handholds are correctly sized and placed, and the general look of the parts seem right.

%&$# I just built the Trumpie E-4 and am working on the Eduard E-7 that was a Christmas present. Now have 3 G-6s in the basement (two are destined for Italian markings). I feel awash in Messerschmitts! This kit looks like a winner to me. Nice review, Rowan.

Thank you both very much - I really appreciate the encouragement.

I've made a bit more progress since this morning. I found the locators for the cockpit needed trimming to close everything up tightly. This is due to the addition of the small floor extensions that weren't part of the original design (the earlier test-shots fitted with no trouble at all):



But with that done, the fit is very good indeed and I hope to get the rest of the basic airframe finished this week:



A possible glitch on the tail caught my eye while fitting it - I think the elevator trim tabs might be in the wrong place, so I'm just going to dig out my refs to check...




Crikey, that's tempting fate, Jean-Luc! You know I always stall at the final painting stage! But seriously, no - net yet.

Lovely interior. Particularly the contrast depth you've achieve in the RLM 02.
This kit looks like a sure winner.

Many thanks! Yes, I am enjoying the build - it really is a nice kit.

But, as I thought, the trim tabs are misplaced (shown here with a page from MMD/Squadron's Bf 109E Walkaround):



It'll be an easy fix, but it's annoying not to have spotted the error on the test-shots.

Hi again

I've got the wings together this afternoon. One small change I made was to the leading edge slats:



As moulded, the supports make the slats hard to open and they extend straight out. Filing a curve and bevelling the top allows them to extend better.

I moaned in the review about how fiddly the etched hinges for the control surfaces are to assemble. Now, with one elevator attached, the result is so loose, I really wonder if it's worth the trouble at all, because you'll have to cement the parts conventionally anyway (unless you want the finsihed model to look like all the control linkages are severered):

Good review. The build also looks great. I think this one might make it to my stash with an emphasis on build me soon. I love these Messerschmitts. I would love to have one to fly around in. But I will settle for a few nice 1/32nds in the display.

Surprisingly, Andy's totally wrong for once - it's safely stored out of harm's way in my workroom. As you say, it shouldn't take too much work to get it through the finishing line, but I've got enough builds currently underway (or about to start - the SE.5a...), so I won't be digging it out for a while.

"A lot of spare time" - I don't know where you got that idea? Life doesn't work that way - especially if you run an Oxfam shop!
