HI guys, I thought I should post some shots of my current build: Beowulf, an ASLAV used by 2 Cav (I think) in Iraq. Heres the vehicle i'm depicting: Here's the build. I used the Trump ASLAV kit, with Mouse House/Arms Corps Models outstanding conversion set for a Phase II ASLAV with bar armor.. in fact, I think i used pretty much every MH/ACM conversion.. well I bought them, and i'll try to use them all! I'll only post a few photos, rather than a full step by step build, as this will appear in print soon, so I dont want to give the farm away! New engine deck area. Great casting by Jason Miller! Replacement hub - Mouse House/ACM on the left, kit part on the right. Here it is, basically ready for primer And in primer: Now im on the horns of a dilemma - do I use the kit wheels with MH/ACM's tasty hubs, or go with the Real Models' resin bulged wheels.. to be honest I like the look of the bulged ones.. Thats where i'm up to now. Im scratching my head about stowage at present.. I got the White Ensign lustreless OD the other day in the mail, 4 days direct from the UK is pretty great service. Im also seeking other alternatives in acrylic - I LOATH enamels, and would rather paint with Tamiya, Gunze or Vallejo.. oh and I'm lazy and dont want to mix paint.. im sure theres a solution out there. Thanks Sam Dwyer |

Sam Good to see this thread over here as well, beautiful modelling. Any hints as to where your article will appear? I'm interested in the wheel issue that Jeffrey mentioned in his thread http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=viewtopic&topic_id=142872&page=1 I too like the look of the weighted wheels but I am concerned about the scale of the wheels and the hub detail. So which wheels are correct and to scale? The MH/ACM resin insert for the Trump vinyl wheels or the resin wheels by Real Model? To me the Real Model resin wheels look under scaled but when I see them on your build they look fine except that the wheel/hub details seem compressed. Can some one post the correct dimensions for the actual wheels and the scale dimensions please? Sorry I don't have a picture of a wheel face on. Regards Bill |

Bill, Trumpeter hubs is not much deep. Tire is the same but in silicon form after some copy in possible small different. Here is different 0.3mm. Correct size 1/35 sale is 28mm (according to Michelin manual - new tire) Many modeler maybe look on price. MH hubs cost $10.95 and full wheels set RM cost $ 21,- Miloslav |

Miloslav I bought these wheels and they are beautiful. Seeing them stacked like this shows that there is very little dimensional difference, perhaps the flat bottom lowers the profile giving the illusion of being smaller in diameter. Your hubs are deeper like you say, very similar to the real thing, thanks for posting the comparison and the dimensions. Bill |

STOWAGE! After a frantic weekend, last weekend, where I finally got to meet Jason Miller in person (and spend an obscene amount of money at the Mouse House stand!), I've finally been able to get some work done on the stowage for Beowulf. Tow cable on the front, and if you look closely a teddy bear near the hull wire cutter: Tasca jerry can, and Real Models' folded camp beds/cots.. oh and you can just see a set of slave cables nestled in under the turret: And here is the camo net/pole bundle, possibly the piece of stowage that i was most worried about getting right: So, I need to do something about the color, which I will get to, once the Epoxy Sculpt dries. SD P.S. regarding the $ spent at the Mouse House stand at QMHE - expect to see an ASPAV PC from me sometime soon |

Hi Sam, it looks great and the stowage really tops it off. I was wondering when you would get the chance to get back at your ASLAV as I saw by your thread you were like a kid on Christmas day when you got your Ersatz M-10 Panther from Dragon. Nice picture of you with your new kit! Cheers, Jeff. |

Decals on! Lots of tidying up to do.. the thing needs another coat of flat for starters, and there is a spot or two of decal film I need to deal with SD |

Very sporty eight wheeler Sam.
What was your approach to painting the bar armour with it being attached to the turret after the camouflage was applied? |

HI Jason - yeah the ASLAV is a bit of a hottie! I painted the whole thing tan first, including the bar armor, then carefully sprayed the camo colours in, under and around the bar armor.. I then went and touched up any overspray (there was only one or two spots really) with the original tan. I used a Tamiya HG Superfine airbrush, which can spray a pretty tight line, so there wasnt much overspray. SD |

Thanks! The Beowulf decals dont come in any decal set as such, I cobbled them together from various Mouse House and Echelon decal sets. Mouse House/Arms Corps models can be purchased here: http://www.mheaust.com.au/MHE/MHEmain.htm SD |
